Still having the problem whereby I log onto stardock games at work and see the GC2 icon just fine but when I log on with my home machine I do not see the GC2 icon (despite the fact that I am a registered beta user).

Re the laptop, no but I hope when the final game comes out it can be installed from disc or are you folks going to require an activation step ala Steam (yuck).
Here's the problem 1. I successfully download GC2 beta at work using our high speed connection. 2. I try to move it to my home desktop (dial-up) but I get an error message saying it does not accept the machines ID 3. I try to download another copy to my home desktop via dialup but the GC2 icon does not appear under the games tab despite my having registered my beta account 4. also, I would like to transfer the game to my non-internet connected laptop
Do you have $20 bucks I could borrow... LOL
Does anybody know if there are plans to provide GC 1.21 as a stand alone download on the galciv site? ;p
Is there an ETA for AP GOLD??? What's the status? :notsure:
Looks like it might have potential (if they don't muf it) - Love the music on the trailer :HOT:
Good point Matt. This peace/alliance problem works both ways and cheesers often exploit the AI for a cheap win. At any rate, I feel addressing this issue in some capacity should be considered for GC2. Alot of good suggestions have been put forward in this thread but I don't pretend to know the best answer. Humane
Why aren't you trying to obtain peace from all races that are allied? Mainly because peace costs money, tech, etc and I do not always have enough resources to make peace with 2 - 5 races that are all aligned against me (but if I could reduce the pressure by making peace with 1 or 2, then I might stand a chance against the others). I just find it very unrealistic that a race could agree to peace and then declare war on you the following turn. A peace treaty should forfeit that races alli
I stepped away from earlier GC versions because of the following alliance problem: War starts with race A; Race B enters war because of alliance with race A; I negotiate peace with either race A or B; Race with negotiated peace re-enters war 1 turn later because of Alliance. I've suggested time and again that if a peace is negotiated with a race that should automatically break their alliance with other races still at war with you (otherwise it is impossible to get out of wars with multip
Docked my colony ship with my home planet, the crew was transferred to the population stat BUT the colony ship itself disappeared (not in orbit). Has anyone else seen this??? :sniff!: Humane
bumpity bump, bump, bump :)
Anyone know anything about the status of GC Ver1.2 development? ;)
I finished a game and sent to metaverse and got the successful submission acknowledgement. Twelve hours later, I see no evidence of this game in the metaverse. What is the lag period for seeing games appear??? :notsure:
After taking a 2-3 month hiatus from GalCiv, I've returned to 1.05 and after playing a few games noticed infrequent events (a total of 2 after playing 2-3 hours on a medium map) and never a sign of any space monsters (in fact, I have never seen a space monster even after being warned of their presence and scouring the map with scouts looking for them). Has anyone made the same observation? Is this an issue in the 1.09 betas? :HOT: - Humane
Frogboy, Thanks for pointing out to the GalCiv community that could care less about the Metaverse (>99% players) that Stardock will intelligently commit resourses to improving our single player gaming experience and not pander to a minority of players ( Humane
Dick - you might have a better time playing PONG (I hear the manual is great). ;p
You should have let them live, collect the cash, and then rocked em. LOL
Yes, I agree - it's that easy BUT I'm more concerned with the types of programming glitches that prompt or permit this type of ridiculous development in the first place. :notsure:
I have completed several games on small to large maps and while receiving notices of monsters in the area, I have never encountered one (even after clearing the entire map after receiving a notice). I don't know if this is a game problem or simply random events by design. :notsure:
I agree with the above. Cheese when exploited only cheats the player out a fun and exciting game experience. You cannot eliminate all of it. The focus should be on correcting issues that often fall within the gray area of cheese/gamedesign problems whereby realism and good gameplay is compromised by subtle design flaw (e.g., the alliances peace negotiation issues). While these flaws might be mercilessly exploited by cheeseheads, they simply annoy legitimate players by compromising realism. ;)
OK, here's a truely wierd development. End of a long game on large map playing all bright. I get a message from a minor race asking for peace (I wasn't aware that we were even at war). They've got no tech and no money so I jokingly ask for >20,000 bc / turn for 200 turns. THEY AGREE???? and next thing you know my bank account starts increasing 20,000 per turn from that point forward. Remember, they had NO MONEY. What the %#@&% is this crap. Has anyone else had this kind of goofy development. I h
*bump* Thrull, These are good suggestions to address a very crippling flaw in gameplay. I simply think that if you unilaterally negotiate a peace it should sever you alliance with races still at war with the party and change your disposition with those races to friendly (rather than close) as a means of preventing you from merely re-establishing an alliance the next turn and repeating the above. As a result, you would need to nurture your relationship with old allies form some
Tony S and Popup Target, I agree with your statements/suggestions and think this should be a MAJOR priority in optimizing game play because I find that alliance issues/problems often become the centerpiece of strategy, often play out unrealistically, and too frequently determine game outcome (thus compromising the fun factor). :notsure: Hopefully, Stradock is beginning to give this some serious attention. Humane
I'm in a three way alliance with the torians and arceans VS a two way alliance b/w the drengins and altarians (?). Once I gain a military superiority, I rape the Drengins of all their tech and cash for a peace treaty. One turn later, I'm back in the war by way of alliance. Wait a few more turns and I re-rape the Drengins of their remaining tech and money for a peace treaty (repeat as necessary). I think peace negotiations need to take alliances into account (either broken beforehand or as a resu
