What good are new weapons

What good does it do to get new kinds of weapons or armor etc. since you can't use them in new ship designs I can find no way to design new ships. So far the documentation is next to nonexistant, I hate games like this. They tell you about all these things can do Then you are suppose to figure out on your own with no help, how or if you really can do these things. This game sucks big time.

Umm.. I assume you mean the current tech upgrades..

Like defensive phasers etc..

You don't actually upgrade them. As soon as you research the techs, the percent bonuses kick in.

So if you research 2 weapon techs that each improve your weapons 10%, your ATT 5 ships automatically become ATT 6.

These tech bonuses are culmulative with any racial picks from the start of the game and bonuses from resources.

Other tech bonuses work the same - research, morale, pop growth, etc.. all add in to your total % bonuses for your race.

Try not to make blanket statements like "This game sucks," with so much evidence to the contrary. Rather, consider if there might be something you're missing, or that you just don't like the game. However, with so many people liking it, and the one or two who don't, there must be something redeeming about it. Don't give up so fast.

What about the the fact that the manual is wrong more than it is right. Such as stating that the TAB key will activate the next ship with movement left. WRONG!!! It activates ships that are not going anywhere. The ships you do want moving just sit there (with the "auto-pilot" sign under it). How stupid is that. You have to manaully click on each one from the ship list or they will not go anywhere. They will sit their like the morons who programed them to be that way. But tell you all you have to do is use the TAB key. What an insult anyone who has a thought or two.

Then you shouldn't feel insulted at all. *ruffle*

Get a decent name, because with the one you have combined with the ignorance in your posts screams 'troll' to the world.

Dick Wiggler,

???

The tab key does activate the next ship with movement left which is the same as the next ship not going anywhere.

If it was going somewhere it would be on Autopilot and all ships on autopilot all move at the end of the turn.

Duh. Not really so stupid now is it.

Ok, Checked it out, they do move at the end of the turn. It is so cool that the manual dosen't tell you that. plus the fact that the game doesn't have a help section to give you misinformation, makes this game a winner.

I think I speak for most, if not all of us if I say:

Dear Dick Wiggler. You obviously hate the game. Do us a favour and go away now. We don't want to hear your pathetic whining over your own ineptitude, and quite frankly, I hardly doubt you are actually looking for help. Instead, it seems like the only reason you post here is to cause us and the developers grief.

Continuing to post here could have no possible positive outcome. Your hateful attitude would be much better directed at a boxing dummy or a brick wall. Seek therapy, spare us your whining.

Here here [twisti]...I agree with you. I can understand someone not liking a game if they can actully post something concrete. However, people using phrases like "this sucks" shows a low level of education and maturity.

Heck, if I don't like a game, I don't even bother going to the forum for it.

You hate the game because of the documentation? Wow, I think I have heard it all now, lol. THAT'S gotta be the stupidest reason to hate the game (that I have ever heard of).

The game isin't that hard unless you are a 7 year old.

Even so, there's this fourm, a chat, and the website. After reading all that and talking to some people, if you can't figure it all out by then...well you shouldn't be play the game ever again.

I'm just guessing that you based all of your opinions off of your first time playing it. If you want to express your opinion, I would highly suggest you do it in a more tactful manner, rather than looking liek a retard. I assume you aren't a 7 year old (but I could be wrong LOL ), so then if you're not, then you should know how to act mature.

Other than that (*coughgogethitbyabuscough*) have a nice day! ;)

[droll] Gee... Imagine that, a game with some manual ommissions/errors. How often does that happen? [/droll]

Sorry. I'm not saying it's OK for a game manual to have such problems, but it's not the end of the world, nor deserving of such criticism from you. FWIW the online manuals and such (check out your GalCiv directory) do a much better job of things. Actually, considering how much has changed and been added to the game (through the excellent support the game has been given) it's not surprising the manual is out of date. The game is pretty easy to pick up if you've played similar strategy games before.

I didn't read the manual, I figured out the game while I played. The game is well designed and one of the best strategy games I've played in years. Ship movement is a breeze. Dick Wiggler, you suck at playing video games. The only compaint I have is that I can't get my scores to show up on the Metaverse.

Dick - you might have a better time playing PONG (I hear the manual is great). ;p

Interesting. I usually only use the manual as a quick reference. Can't remember the last time I actually read one. I agree with you on the forum though. IMO, that's were the really pertinent info is.

LMAO G.R.O.S.S. ers. Too funny.

Yo Mr. Wiggler: More than 2 shakes and you're doing something else we don't want to get into there buddy. Suggest you change that Sn.

The manual does what its designers obviosly intended. It provides a basic overview of the game and gets you started. There are those who believe a manuel should tell you everything. Others, like me think the discovery is half the fun. I don't use, nor have I looked at a tech tree for example.

Point blank: With all the forums and strategy posted
here, I doubt there is anything that if you'd just ask instead of flame, you wouldn't at some point get help on.

What can I say. You should have joined G.R.O.S.S. It would know you mean business.

Did you tie your registration there to your account here? Are you having trouble submitting or do they just not show up?

Yeah, I too think the manual sucks ass. It took me an hour to figure out how to install the game because the F**king documentation never said I needed to open the tray before inserting the disk.

And then when I finally did start playing I wanted to make my ship go to the right, but every time I hit the Turn button it advanced the game to the next month! Stupid undocumented features...bleh.

Heh...

In reality, the manual for this game (and MOST games anymore) could most certainly be better, of this there is no doubt. Manuals are a weak point in games anymore, mores the pity. At least Frogboy is making an effort to update and add to the manual (and if you had done a search for 'manual'.. you would have found it).

A little bit of research and a few polite questions, and all your questions can be answered. This game (at least to a TBS fan) is hardly rocket science. It is a lot of fun, there ARE some undocumented things that would be nice to know from the outset, but none of them are game killers. Lack of documentation doesn't meant the game sucks either.. it means the documentation sucks, duh.

Now go wiggle your um.. self somewhere else, if you are going to bawl like a 3yo that wet his diapers. ;p

Ok OK I admit I didn't search the the forum or give the game a chance. I just got mad at not being able to do things in the game, and thought there should have been online help while playing the game. I could have been more dilomatic, but at the time that is how I felt about the game ("it sucks"). I have started over with the game and it's not too bad. I really want to like this game, and I am sure I will after I put some time in.
