All other downloads are fine. It's not a problem with my connection. I can't be sure whether it's a problem with the client or at Stardock, but from the responses it would seem to be the client.

Well, I have had this problem with SDC before, and not when updates have just been released. It sometimes takes forever to log in and get the list of software updates (>5 minutes). The current version and build I'm using is 1.10d.204 build 25.

I'm getting transfer rates ranging from a low of 25 bytes (yes bytes) per second to very brief bursts of 8 K/s. Average rate is around 550 bytes/s to around 1K/s. Any ideas? I'm on cable BTW.

Today's your lucky day! Seems I have it archived. Now the problem is that SD probably doesn't want me redistributing it to you without proof of a valid CD key. In fact, the EULA probably forbids it. Also, I've noticed that with all of the patches, the name of the .zip file looks like it contains a hash of some sort, most likely of the CD key you enter to access the download. I wonder if each executable also contains this hash. If this is the case, my 1.02 patch may give

I had to enter my serial number 3 times before I figured out what I was doing wrong; I didn't have my caps lock on. I don't know why they designed the serial to be case sensitive, but it sure freaked me out :) Maybe you're entering lower case for the letters?

I tried it once and I believe it increases your chances of stumbling upon a tech that you aren't researching. The discovery comes as a random event. In the game I took it I only got one tech this way. It's a waste of a pick, IMO, when you can get +10% research for one point and you will get much further ahead in tech from it.

I voted for 1.02. I do find that there is more money in 1.03 but it does tend to get sucked up once you get a few SBs going. Have to agree with the scout maintenance. Every BC counts in the eary game when you're out looking around. The thing I like most about 1.03 is the nerfing of the PQ bonus. I saw the potential to get seriously hooked on that to the point of always picking it. I would like to see the SB maintenance dropped in the next version. I think that the 3X

My "Show sector ownership" toggle on the minimap does not show, nor has it ever shown, any colours. This is for versions 1.02 and 1.03. It does show a lighter colour for (I believe) unowned sectors but the rest are always black. Some (perhaps) pertinent info: running Win2K SP3 and using an NVidia Geforce DDR (yeah, I know :p ) video card. I can email a screenshot if need be.

I don't think that this exploit is anything that needs to be fixed. Anyone that uses it on a consistent basis most likely has such a boring, pathetic, meaningless life that getting PQ100+ planets is one of the only things keeping them hanging on. Why am I getting transfer rates on the Stardock client of 100 bytes per second? I've shut down and restarted the application a couple of times but to no avail. I seem to get data in short bursts from the server. I don't expect an answer here; I'm just venting. Just like my post bemoaning the fact that I can't join an empire and the email I sent regarding this, I expect this to be completely ignored. I'd love to get the superlative support that you are all getting. I still can't seem to properly join an empire and haven't gotten any reply from the company from either the post I made here a few days ago or the email I sent Stardock a couple of days ago.

Coincidentally, it was the Apolyton Empire :) The funny thing is that if I click on "My Empire" the Apolyton page does come up, along with an option at the bottom to leave the empire.

Well I sort of can. I have joined an empire and when I click on the "My Empire" link, my empire comes up. However, my name doesn't show. When I search for my individual username, it comes up and I can check my submitted score. When I get the score popup, it doesn't list me as being a member of any empire. Quitting and rejoining the empire hasn't helped. I will be interested to see if I get my empire logo on this post.
