I like what Valkyrie8053 recommends. One thing I would add is the ability to give 'priority' commands. Such as: Alt + Right-Click to attack a given target until destroyed, then return to prior instructions. These could also stack in their own group of instructions. For example, a fleet is assigned a 5 planet route to avoid some nasty stuff.&n

When you're deciding which planets to upgrade, look a the costs and quick math ballpark the payback time. Go with the ones that get the most bang for the buck. Some games I'm struggling for credits, so I'll do commerce first. But most games its the other two that I'm lacking so I usually go: Home planet: Mining 2, Commerce 3, Mining 3, then wait while expanding Asteroids: Mining 1&2, Commerce 1, then wait while expanding Volcanic: Mining 1&a

Yes, it is possible. I prefer to set resources, ship construction, and research speed to max. But you didn't specify settings. Assuming everything is set to normal, Here are some tips. Practice until you can get 6-7 planets before the 20 minute mark. The 'impossible' AI players have 3-4 planets at this stage, so you have a chance. Very first thing, get your free capital ship (I prefer the Sova Carrier, but sometimes I go with the Akkan) I

It's easy enough to replicate... Max out a planets orbital structures. Scuttle one. Ensure you have enough resources to buy 5 of any particular orbital. Hold down ctrl and shift while left clicking an orbital structure to buy it. 5 will pop up on the list. 4 will never be built. In a single player game an error pops up...<img src="https://cdn.stardock.us/forums/48/20/4820046/1f8cf65e-2c3c-445c-88e1-8e1022d26dd7.png" alt="" width="1883" height="104

Here's a handful of things I noticed while playing online: I enjoyed playing against people with less predictable strategies than the AI. ctrl+shift+buying an orbital structure allows too many structures to be added to the list Players can edit the settings json to allow seeing the entire galaxy, it gives the player an unfair advantage. Some asteroids gravity wells are too small to host twin fortresses and all their allotted structures. It would b

Yes it does, but not much. I was curious enough to edit the files and make them free, and use fewer slots. If you have 100+ of them, you can trim total research for everything down from about 5 hour to 3.5 hours. So.... not worth it.

Having extra research stations speeds up research. However, in my experience, most games are over long before that would make a difference, simply because much of the research can be skipped. For example, with the logarithmic function limiting income, it can take a really long time to repay the investment into "immense cargo holds". If you think the game isn't going to last forever, skip it.

I had hoped to play against or with another person. But so far, no luck finding a random game. And no luck getting anyone to join a game I've hosted. There was one time I joined someone's lobby, but there was no means of chatting that I could find. We sat in the lobby for 20 minutes, presumably waiting for someone else to join, before the host cancelled the game. So while other players with friends may have been looking forward to this feature, It's done nothing

I would love to see orbital structures that actually orbit! It's particularly frustrating having a stationary missile defense when the planet orbits. Why? Because as the planet orbits the side facing the the pirate raids change. Some well positioned defenses that kill of the siege frigates become completely useless a raid or two later. If the planetary defenses moved, they would be much better for their purpose.

For a true beginner: Pick a race, any race, and stick with it until your first victory. By then you should be familiar with the game mechanics enough that learning the other two (or perhaps more?) would be easy. For a person not sure where to focus: A great economy, continuous researching, and simple defenses will overcome most other faults. For a general strategy: At first grab as many planets as quickly as your fleet and economy can suppor

I disagree with research trees semi-randomly developing. If anything, make this an option. Here's why: I like to play Rebellion against 9 computers set to Vicious. It's only possible if you know which technologies will be available. For Tech its important to get a great economy including Trade and Pervasive Economy early. For Vasari, starbases and their upgrades are critical. For Advent, there's a couple ways to go, but culture spamming is the easiest

With Sins II being the next generation of games, what are some things that can make it stand out as the latest and greatest? I ask, because if we end up with something that is just like Rebellion, except prettier and runs smoother, it will feel just like the game many people (including myself) have spent thousands of hours playing. I personally can keep playing another thousand hours of the original and be happy. So what I'm looking for in terms of answers isn'

It would be nice to be able to set the graphic setting to 75% and/or 50% so that even more can be seen.

I've got thousands of hours played of the original game and about two hundred of Sins II. I can easily say, combat is over much faster in the sequel at this stage of development. For my playing style, I don't mind (I send fleets not caring if they return). I rarely focus on a battle, I'm to busy expanding, researching and getting more resources. But for many players who are endeared to their fleet and capital ships, I could see why this is a major draw
It works if you select the build menu, not when clicking shift ctrl, on what is being built, the picture that pops up.
Thanks, that saves me a lot of clicking.

Just to clarify on the multiple factory production. With 5 factories around a planet, it should produce 5 ships at a time. Sometimes it does, sometimes it produces 1 ship at a time. Without being able to look at the code, I don't think I can figure out why. There was one instance while I was watching the planet when the change happened. It was already producing ships 5 at a time, I clicked to add more ships to the queue and it dropped down to 1 at a time. I

I long ago accepted Sins I was a space themed game and not a space game, because in 3D space there are infinitely many directions to travel. Defending planets in 3D is nearly impossible. The phase lanes further reduce travel directions, making defense possible. Would a game with or without phase lanes be more enjoyable to play? It's hard to say. I'd have to play them both. I personally think I would like the challenge of being attacked from anywhere

Thanks for spelling this all out, and I'm in agreement. I'm looking forward to when I find the time to test your firing arcs. With the exchange rate where it is, I felt always starved for credits even when I had piles of the other resources. In Sins 1 TEC were the best at getting credits. If that holds true in Sins 2, then Vasari and Advent are doomed to be poor.
