I second 2a and 2b. But, I may be a bit bias because I've been playing at 2x or 4x speed to make up for slow resources.

Colonization victory... Should be a larger percentage of the galaxy. I think it is set at 51%. I reloaded a lost 2v2 game from the most recent autosave, made one more siege frigate and won a minute later. I think 80% would be better. Thoughts?
I played a game where I turtled in and let it run at 10X for 10 hours to see what happened. Here's what I did and what I noticed. I fast tracked research stations and garrisons to conquer 8 planets. Then focused on economy long enough to que up all the research and max out the defenses. Every once in a while I'd check in on it and scuttle my garrison ships that were trapped away from home due to planet orbits, or were stuck in a loop killing orbital structures while
While I'm sure editing the files is discouraged at this stage of development, tweaking things can make the game more fun. In the SINS II folder there is an entities folder, inside that are many files that can be opened and edited with notepad. Find the planet type you want to edit, make a backup copy, then make changes to your liking. There are lots extraordinary things about original game, its upgrades, and mods. What are some of the things you hope are kept in II?
I love the game! I've always wanted several things: The means of "stealing" technology from other races. For example, disable a ship and gain the ability to research the technologies it possessed. Or, once a technology is used against an opponent, that opponent can research with 2-3 research tiers penalty. Trade ships / cargo ships should have some means of defending themselves. Even if it is a pathetic single use missile per trip, ramming th
I would love the ability to enable/disable various research items during the pre-game setup. It would clean up the research trees, and let me change the flavor of the game much easier than building a mod to do it.
