I think Downer is making a mistake. I do not foresee a time when China will emerge as THE world superpower. Why? 1.) China is not a democracy and will not be one. The chinese citizens have been reduced to mere 'robots' by the communist state there. There will NOT be another Tiananmen revolution. Leaving apart Bush and gang, the US is still a vibrant democracy. 2.) I agree that dvelopment is happening at a rapid pace in China

am i correct in thinking that the drugs sold in india are often also manufactured in india? Kingbee: Not just 'often' but almost 'always'. It is extremely difficult to import drugs into India. They require special permits, bureaucratic red tape and all that. So a drug being manufactured in the US by n

Say something". She smiled at him. And she smiled like an angel from heaven. Yuri had lived a tough life. Alpha squadron 6 was among the 'elitist of the elite' strike squadrons. Life for squad members was one big adventure with women just being an aberration. However something in Yuri said that Cammi would be different. She was from the humanoid colony of Villa16. And the women there were supposed to have a tough exterior but a gentle core.

"I think I might just 'forget' our clock radio. I also think that I might set it for 2 am and place it right up against the bedroom wall, turned up to full volume. I think I might see how they like a taste of their own medicine...." DharmaGrl: Don't just think. PLEASE DO!! Would serve them right!! As for me, I wouldn't mind booby trapping the radio too

KingBee: All this is certainly amusing but one needs to commend 'Turkmenbashi' for the fact that he has not allowed his country to descend into chaos after the Soviet collapse as we saw happening to their satellites in Eastern Europe. And I believe that all of us have a streak in us that makes us want to be ruled over by a stron man a 'tyrant' who will show us the way and not bother us with thinking. We will just do what he orders us to. That'

b.) we were permitted to shop things in as well (like pharmaceuticals which cost much less to make in india). kingbee: But then how would all the big American Corporation (they have branches in India that sell the same drugs cheaper) make all their billions?

Here in India we are riding on the high wave of the outsourcing boom. And yes, there certainly does seem to be a boom. I was in Bangalore a year back before relocating to Bombay. I used to pay Indian Rs. 7000 per month ( USD 155) for a 2 bedroom apartment and last month when I visited bangalore the rents for such an apartment was touching IR 9000 (USD 2

A more interesting view is the thought that people create their own afterlife somehow but those who have done wrong, whether they actively acknowledge it or not, end up having their guilt, even if subconscious, consume them, and create their own punishment. Lord Shitzu: This is good and what I think it

Hesr's one I randomly picked up... ... Goldie was sitting on a beach in Florida, attempting to strike up a conversation with the attractive gentleman reading on the blanket beside hers. "Hello, sir," she said, "Do you like movies?" "Yes, I do," he responded, then returned to his book. Goldie persisted. "Do you like gardening?" The man again looked up from his book. "Yes, I do," he said politely before

1/ what type of salary package and benefits will you be granting yourself ? O.K. Lets do some math here: salary = o.s.(1 + 0.02(e.g.r)) where: o.s. = earlier guy's salary e.g.r. = economic growth rate In plain english I take the earlier leader's salary and add twice the percentage increase in economic growth seen in my tenure every year. 2/ what system of government do you plan to have ? Democracy, it

Sally: Yes, what you write is true. But then with the kind of money these athletes and other sportsmen make I guess they would do anything to get a gold medal. A gold medal not only means increased prestige but also many more millions from sponsors and potential sponsors. Here like in most other contests, the end often justifies the means. In fact, why the olympics, when I used to work out in the gym, at least half of the guys com

wuxiaomao: Nice blog there. But I think attitudes are changing all over. Look at South Africa today. Yes, we have problems there like crime, poverty, et al but it is still a success story. I think when South Africans(especially white ones) look at their country today they will be asking, O my God!! if all this change(breaking down of color barriers) had been allowed to happen 50 years ago, would the sky have fallen on our heads?

Hey, this can happen to anyone. I think what we need to do when we go to pick up a used car is to take along someone 'who is in the trade' e.g. a motor mechanic, used car salesman, etc. This helps. They can 'sniff' out a lemon from an apple.

I am thinking out aloud here. All the major organised religions believe in the concept of Heaven and Hell. Of course versions of Heaven vary with Christians believing that he/she who reaches heaven will be one with God. The Muslims have their sex with 42 black-eyed virgins, rivers of milk and honey and stuff like that , but then I believe that will also be

But then that's the power of television. The poor hostage's family's emotions come alive in our drawing rooms and that's what we want. And yes we do know how a losing captain feels but who wouldn't want to hear it from the horse's mouth. Doordarshan was crap and still is.

The Americans are again getting bogged down in Najaf where Moqtada Sadr's men seem to be putting up a stiff fight. We are seeing the repeat of the same story that unfolded in April/May when the Mehdi Army went on a rampage against them. Sadr and his men play it safe by hiding around the safety of Imam Ali's shrine knowing fully well that the Americans will no
