Circles by Lightstar and Brainstorm by davebax are examples. I would guess I have about 30 blinds that have this issue. Hope this is helpful and not sounding "picky"! I am sooooo pleased with the whole Windowblinds concept that I want to help any chance I can. I am retired but spent many years working for the Estates of Bill Gates and Paul Allen as a software manager. THREE CHEERS FOR WINCUSTOMIZE AND STARDOCK!!!

Probably something I am doing wrong but CursorFX v2 is crashing constantly. I have over a hundred cursors in it. Is there a limit to the number in v2? Does v4 fix this? I am afraid to put it on as it says I must uninstall v2 which I am thinking erases all my cursor files. Any pointers would be appreciated..... many thanks in advance!

Thanks LightStar! That's it exactly. I use Excel because I also grade them both with Wincustomize and my own grades. I also have a column for Win Version supported, etc. Lot's lots of data points. I guess there is a way to make Word (but not Notepad) do that with "Tables", but Excel makes it soooo easy. BTW, guess who's Blinds fill the Top Tier?!?!?!? :-) I am going to sound like I don't like Windowblinds/Stardock but that is NOT the case. Been a l

WELL! Some things last forever! I am on the latest version of WIN10 and Start 10. I don't have any weird software running (like VM). I just shake my head because I must a "local condition" since no one has made note of it, that I know of. It a very noticeable bug which is totally consistent on my system. The problem reappears every time the system is first booted and always goes away with the "dance" I noted above. Oh well! Enjoy the Silly Season, all!

Still have the same totally reproducible problem. Running the latest WIN10. Latest WB. Same quick (but stupid) fix... click start10 configure, click win10 menu style, click start10 menu style and BINGO it stretches right out. I know, "How many moons are in my world?" Does anybody have a suggestion for some other ways to isolate this? TIA!

Ummmmmm. As I said, tried that. I guess I am being slow here. Do I need to create a NEW Stardock....will I have two accounts. My eyes are old but I didn't see any reference to "Go and make a new account with support here." when I tried the ticket. Maybe a pointer here, please? Does that sign me up for "other stuff"? Thanks for your time and effort.

I need to make a correction and an apology. 1. When I saw DaveBax's reply, my addled old brain thought he was a Stardock Support person and so I referenced LightStar as a person doing blinds technically correct. The light didn't come on until just a few minutes ago that DaveBax is also one of the several Stars in the Windowblinds sky! So sorry Dave!!! 2. Correction: who should be how.

This is a "bump" because the right-side-list width in Start10 seems to still be too narrow more often than not.... still! It is easy to reproduce. 1. Restart OS (I use Windows 10 so that's my scenario). 2. Note width of right list in start panel.....it's skinny. 3. Right click Start Panel and pop up Panel Type. If you click the Windows 10 type and click Start (don't close Configure) you will see the 10 type Start panel (which is alway

I am having the right panel on my Start10 change size at "random". I searched and found that this problem has been around since at least early 2016. Is this some really, really hard bug to find? Seems a shame because it is indeed annoying. Maybe I missed a fix? TIA

gevansmd, you are obviously learning the "engine" in a much different way than I have seen. Much info for thought. I am trying to meld Windowblinds with Excell because I have learned that I can use its wonderful, multi-level sorting to order (think group, as well) Blinds in to Quality, Need Fixing, are dark/light/blue/white/etc. The hard part is picking those characteristics out of the internals of Windowblinds. Searching through hundreds of .uis files is even more cumbersome.

Good show gevansmd! I don't see any clues about Randomness but I will can see lots of possibilities for inventory and category (whatever that is). Thanks! We will come up with something yet!

Thank you Neil! I will try to do my best to get Regedit and Excell working to make a usable sorting sheet. I am not sure where the "bit" is for denoting SELECTED is but I will see what I can find. OK if I let people know what I have come up with? If I can come up with a little procedure to manipulate the random list easily, maybe more people would use the feature. Anyway I am a Happier Camper now. [e digicons][/e]

Well, that will teach me to try and be humorous! Didn't read your sample carefully. Maybe it IS a random list. I just don't have such a file and I have over 600 random skins in my list.

21 Replies 66,740 Views

Thanks, gavensmd! That looks like the beginning of a *.uis file (the file SKS creates). The file I am looking for would have a list of multiple SkinName(s) from those different skins that are in the Random list. Or MAYBE....Windowblinds carefully puts a leeeeeeeeetle, SECRET Code Mark in each random designated skin and then races out and reads ALL the UIS files (I have 1543 at the moment) each time it is started. That would be AMAZING and no one could read that list ALL AT ONCE....."T

No offense, but my original question about any access to a Random Files list seems to have dropped through the cracks. I see some real "Heavy Weights" [e digicons]5*[/e] here. Windowblinds MUST keep that list somewhere...or is it an ET Phone Home thing?! [e digicons]:waaaa:[/e] TIA!

21 Replies 66,740 Views

So sorry! I wasn't perfectly clear here. By having a spreadsheet of Name, Author, Ratings, Total Downloads, Personal Ratings, etc. I could sort with various criteria and use that as a list for running my Blinds for, say a week. Randomizing doesn't work in WindowBlinds... no respect of presets, defaults, etc. It's been this way for a long time...I believe. Hope this helps! [e digicons][/e] [e digicons]O:)[/e]

In spite of the decline in the number of skinners, over time, the number of skins has continued to grow. I know Stardock has said they don't see much reason to enhance Random Styles functionality but it would be great if we could know where any lists (in ASCII form) exist within the Windowblinds file system. Then we could use Excel to do some nice sorting and culling and randomizing. Wouldn't that be nice? [e digicons]:sun:[/e]

Yep! What LightStar said! I would like things on the site to look a little more like what we see on our screens at home. Take LightStar's stuff for instance........ just kidding! EVERYBODY has lots of creativity in their work. If it is a matter of resources, I have a 3 screen 2560x1440 setup and I have over 1200 Windowblinds all installed, tuned up, graded, ID'd to author, etc. in an Excel spreadsheet. I could supply some and see how you like them. Just give the me the paramet

Well, I appreciate your consideration, for sure. I will get off this soapbox with one last possibility... could you just upgrade the pictures that show the older blinds to the current resolutions? That shouldn't take somebody more than a couple of days. It looks to me like we need more users WAY more than we need more skinners and maybe this little tweak would help. I think we are seeing yet another revolution in user demand for a WOW experience. Neil and the crew are now
