VR_IronMana, For the non-advanced lighting issue with the random texture overlay after going to kingdom screen: Please try deleting (or renaming so you have a back-up) the following file in your elemental folder: c:/program files/stardock games/elemental/gfx/fx/fxo/post_bloom.fxo Then restart Elemental. Does that fix the random texture overlay issue for you? I am still looki
...Here, in no particular order, are some of my favorite features from other tactical combat games that i think could be implemented in Elemental * Age of Wonders: The whole system was pretty good -- in particular, I liked the way that the turn was broken up so that you could either attack 3 times, move a lot and not attack, or move a little and attack once or twice * Heroes 3/5; King's Bounty: Obviously

Was only playing for a few turns where I noticed things just got slower and slower. Within a short period of time each frame was taking a few seconds to render. The cloth map had stopped working on zoom out. Map items started to disappear. Zoomed out again and everything was fog.

Went to the Rats quest main intro screen when you first get the quest and the game froze. Music still playing and cursor still working. Buttons don't work. Can't escape or alt-tab. Means a complete system restart. These freezes are by far the most frustrating aspect of beta testing as it takes about ten minutes to restart the system.

Yes. That was it. Tried it again and it started. Only problem being my bloody nVidia card made everything go blurry again so tried alt-tabbing to fix it (no options in battle by the looks). Created a DX Error when coming back and then the game crashed. :(

Differentiate! Differentiate! Differentiate! Please!!! Gal Civ was sold on the fact that there were diverse races to choose from that were truly unique. And it delivered. I just assumed Elemental would take this aspect even further. I would like to see definite racial choices that go beyond just affecting stats. It would be awesome for some of the races to have different base units. Eg. An Orc race would have goblin, orc and troll base units before you started to add equipment

No offence taken. :) It takes all sorts to make the world turn. I'm really just pointing out my observations of where many games progressed through modding and that a definitive richness in cultures seems to ultimately be a big winner. All sorts of games end up here. Galactic Civilisations started that way. Mount and Blade Blood Bowl Etc etc etc. My main 'unknown' with the current beta is that there is only currently the Kingdom and Empi

I bought the Civ4 upgrades just to play Fall from Heaven. :) And it is looking like Elemental will be like nothing a mod community has seen. Sounds like it is going to be relatively easy to make a massive impact via the XML yet still have the capacity to make a complete mod as well. I found your latest video on YouTube where you play with modding tools ( http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=edF9levolUc ). [e digicons][/e]

Random vs Premade? Random. Retreat? How about using a battle stance setting before each battle starts. Eg: Berserk - Will not retreat. Attack and speed bonus. Advance - Can retreat after 50% losses. Balanced - Can retreat after 30% losses. Defensive - Can retreat after 20% losses. Defence bonus. Speed penalty. Battle time? Up to 10 m

I like seeing where other similar games ended up AFTER being modded. I guess it shows how games mature and where balance between racial groups and unique racial play-styles tends to end up. Age of Wonders Started off being very LOTRish with elves, orcs, humans, undead, goblins etc. Excellent diversity and racial strengths and weaknesses. Second version introduced a couple of new races that didn't do much for me

It is looking like the 3d aspects may be outside my immediate knowledge base. I use 3DSMax at work but mainly just for building models and for creating still images. I'm very much a peon when it comes to coding behaviours and producing full blown character animations. I'm looking forward to playing with this at some stage but for now the learning curve is looking a little steep for me. No doubt when the game is released there will be detailed tutorials put together by Stardock and the communi

That's really hopeful. :) Building the model is only part of the equation. If it can be boned and given movement commands through the tools then we'll end up with some awesome mods down the track. Would be awesome to have a compendium of creatures that are made by the community. By the way, if you want an excellent tutorial on character building in 3dMax you can't look past this... http://www.3dt
