Another little update.. 1) Got 20 hours relatively trouble free play yesterday UNTIL i started doing quests and the epic quest. There seems to be a major problem with the quest subsytem. 2) When I exit the game I often get this... <img id="fullsizeMedia" style="width: 884px; height: 552px;" src="http://i234.photobucket.com/albums/ee125/EphBee/ElementalLHExitbug.jpg" alt=" photo ElementalLHExitbug.jpg" width="884" height="884" data-link="src{:fullsi

Little update. Starting playing again with latest save game from yesterday. Obviously restarted the PC since yesterday's session so Windows XP SP3 running fairly "clean". Turned off the game's ground cover after turning it on to max yesterday. Played perfectly for about 1.5 hours. Then, after a combat (maybe autoresolve not sure) units displayed as black shadows. Into another combat in the same game turn and autoresolve. Exited fro

Hi all. I downloaded and installed the new game beta yesterday and played it for about 5 hours - 203 seasons - one test game at novice setting. Have to say I really like it. Nice refinements over the original. A few issues... 1) Massive XP and leveling after one combat and got stuck in the Traits screen - reported in another thread. 2) After 203 seasons the game has become too unstable to play. Regular c

Hi all. Downloaded the new game from Steam yesterday. Really like it. I too have hit this massive XP gain after combat problem - got nearly 1200 levels. Also got stuck in the traits screen. It is obvious there should be an exit from this screen to save up traits or apply one later. I have a save game just before I entered the quest's combat if needed. I only trid it twice but the bug was reproduceable. I not

I might be missing somethong here, but after playing many games with several custom races, I end up with masses of ship designs. They are hidden. When I am in a game and want to get my customised "Fighter III" what techs do I research? Redundant designs clog up the ship list but it is necessary to be in a game and to have to have researched the appropriate techs for the redundant ships to become accessible. (I don't mess with game files!) <br/

I have questions about these too. I clicked update on the downloads above and the pdf manual download. Didn't seem to do anything - or if it did the download was very, very quick. The option to update is no longer available. Have I broken my Gal Civ installation with this?

In "real life" surely a star base would would only need constructors in order to get itself up and running. Any sensible starbase design would quickly call for internal production facilities so that constructors become unnecessary for that star base. It should simply take time for the star base to come up with new modules, assuming raw materials are available and can be extracted from stellar dust which should appear in the "real life" sector. In fact, thinking out loud, the rate at w

Thanks bonscott. Trying to get a grip on changes to stardock/galciv can be like nailing jelly/jello to a wall with a six inch nail. After reading your post I had a poke around - there is actually a history option under stardock help but its too high level. Do you know somewhere where changes are spelt out in simple language for idiots like me. Thanks. :notsure:

I really really really want more statistics screens. For example... For a planet I would like a complete screen showing its base stats and all the enhancements it gets for production, research, economics, morale etc from things on the planet, in the sector and from the empire. Similarly for ships I would to be able to get a report listing its base stats and seeing in detail all the modifiers working on it not just the summary effect currently on the ship panel. <b

I might be misunderstanding how all this works but.... Are the effects of multiple starbases mining the same resource supposed to be cumulative. In domestic politics abilities screen my morale was listed as +189%. In a save game I scrapped a star base giving me +68% morale through mining. I let the game run a turn and the domestic politics abilities screen didn't change.

I usually play on tiny/small/medium maps with colonizable star systems at the leaner end of the spectrum. On a tiny map with rare planets there is often only one other free colonisable planet to find, so you can be dominant with just two star systems if quick enough to find and grab the extra planet. I find medium a bit time consuming. I am a builder - not a conqueror. (If I told you how I play a typical game of MOO2 it would probably bring tears to your eyes!) I am still getting to grips with t

I wouldn't buy it. MOO3 doesn't need a patch. It needs a rewrite. Developers can't spend years (just how many was it in fact?) writing a pile of poo then spend three months writing and testing a little patch to put it all right.

For some reason I've had to deal with a lot of these in my games. They can only move one square. Build a star base with the tech that restricts enemy movement by 1. This freezes their movement. Can't take credit for this idea - read it on one of the forums. In an election vote to strategically put the zoo in a place that will really screw at least one alien civ if/when the monsters escape. Incidentally these red worm like things appear in the ship panel as Rouge Monsters but I bet it should be R

I like to keep a scout in the middle of every sector they can reach. Don't they zero ,maintenance scost? Later - sensors instead. In a war they distract the enemy for a while too, as they get chewed up. ~SDC~

OK...... I think I still need a little clarification here though. If I attack with a stack of two or three units - say a battlehammer and a couple of battlecruisers what actually happens? Does only one ship attack and defend? Do they all? If my stack is attacked which ship defends - the best defender? The ship at the top of the stack (however that is determined!)?, all of them? What about multiple ships in orbit - are they treated like a stack? This stuff is pretty f

Thanks Popup Target for you response to the question. This is an issue I've been wondering about recently myself. Particularly though... After a recent game in which an AI got lots (25 if I remeber correctly) Pre-Cursor corvesttes, I was reluctant to engage them because I don't understand how comabt works for ships in stacks. Common sense dictates that a stack of 25 corvettes is much stronger than 25 corvettes in stacks of 1. Do you know exactly how it works? Thanks i

I spent 5 months last summer in a wrist support and taking daily stomach-upsetting anti-infammatory drugs purely due to tendonitus from over enthuiastic game playing. It played up for weeks and weeks with symptoms exactly as you describe and I ignored them. Suddenly overnight the symptoms just "blew up" - wrist/hand/forearm swollen up like a ballon, agonizing, couldn't even hold a teaspoon for breakfast cereal. This took three weeks to subside to just merely very weak and very painful.

1) Last two games were won as Alliance Victory with correct Alliance Victory cutscene and entry on Metaverse but end game summary screen gave cultural victory blurb. 2) Possible bug: Those red space shark things that escape from the zoo are displayed in their little picture panel as "Rouge Monsters" (or something similar - its the Rouge thing I'm querying). Should that really be be Rouge or should it be ROGUE? 3) Should foundary should be foundry - haven't got a dictionary to

After reorganising my ships I pulled all my old unwanted ships to a central point on the map and turned them into a fleet. I decided to give them to a nearby AI who was suffering a lot of damage in a war and was likely to go under. I used the little fleet control panel on the bottom right of the screen to pick up the ship types and numbers...... (Bug one - some of the ships numbers don't show and I had to click on the relevant ship and look in its information panel at the bottom of the
