It apparently worked! At first attempt, the problem came back after I reinstalled Start8. The DOS-like window created by the .bat file was showing many errors. So I tried to run it twice and now it's apparently working. I restarted it 3 three times and they were all successful. If the problem re-appears, I'll let you know. Thank you for your reply! My IT consultant told me so. I can't really say how he figured it out, but if it's important I can ask him. One thing I tried to do was uninstall and reinstall Start8, but it didn't solve the problem. When it was uninstalled, the problem didn't show. However, that's not a definite symptom, since there are occasions when the problem doesn't show anyway. Thank you again,
Hello, I have Start8 v1.56 running on Windows 8.1 x64 and it presents an apparently random problem: When I start the computer, the whole desktop freezes even before the icons start to show.
