Not sure if I polled this place in the past or not, but if you are already a FUMBBLer let me know. If you're not, and you like Blood Bowl (not Cyanide garbage) then check out fumbbl.com Heck, check it out even if you don't like Blood Bowl, or if you don't even know what Blood Bowl is :) Fine community with tons of leagues and a couple open divisions.

THAT'S XCOM BABY!!!!! Actually though learning to manage the activations is critical. As you gain more understanding of just how critical high cover is these incidents will decrease in regularity. Early game is mostly about figuring out your best use of grenades or rockets. Use them to blast cover so the rest of your squad can kill things. Thin Men are indeed a PITA, but you just need to learn their tricks an

I thought the tutorial covered most of the basics in as much as how the tactical system works, but I admit I played it once when the game came out and could have forgotten. The tradeoffs on the foundry/production... I dunno, I don't think any of that is that critical, until you want to play on impossible. Even on classic it's not that hard to get through the game without losing a single nation. Not that that ma

Line of sight is all your snipers usually need. Rockets do not depend on your aim attribute, they are a fixed 90% I believe. Unless you are playing a mod. I can tell you this much though... you're really not getting everything out of the game playing it the way you are :) Of course, anyone should feel free to play however they enjoy playing, that said, XCOM is designed to be played at a level which you find difficu

Some people will tell you that the only way to play the game is Classic/Ironman. Or, even Impossible/Ironman. You can also check out the 2nd Wave options now, some of which change the game play up enough to where you cannot just do the same sat rush mass rocketter nonsense :) Though squadsight snipers in archangel armor still seem to rule...

I'm pretty sure you get the same 'loot' no matter what you do, unless you blow it up, then you either don't get it at all or it comes as damaged. As to the suppression related crash, I have no idea, never experienced it myself.

If it's just the final mission, while annoying, even in ironman I believe it always allows you to restart that mission no matter what. If it's something else I don't know, I never had any crash issues.

For grenade/rocket targeting it sometimes helps to rotate the view so that you're not moving the mouse close to the edge of the screen. There are still some tricky spots on some maps because the sides of the map don't allow you to get a perfect view of where you're trying to throw without putting the mouse too close to the edge where it seems to 'spaz' a bit more.

Well Steam and XCOM have a different relationship then. Most mods (other than cosmetic only ones) will be overwritten if you don't turn off the autoupdate or check thingy for it. Anyway, the game doesn't have or need any unofficial patches. Just mods. And you don't need any of them either :)

[quote who="ElanaAhova" reply="43" id="3437913"] Quoting uberlicker, reply 42 ... That was one of the best things about EU, it was very playable after the patching. Balanced is in the eye of the beholder for the most part, but if this is really your 1st play of the game I would stick with Vanilla on Normal or Classic depending on your tolerance for difficulty And of course Iron Man. Always play Iron Man. Way cool. Quicker set up. Spea

[quote who="ElanaAhova" reply="40" id="3437693"] Quoting Hawawaa, reply 19 I got my squads wipes on impossible ironman in 3 games so I'm going through normal just to say fuck you game I'll try it again later for impossible and ironman. I hated the council mission "Site Recon", it just ended so badly. I didn't come prepared only because it got triggered so damn early. Oh if your curious about some mods for xcom- http://xcom.nexus

Yeah, I'm sure it's a lot of fun if you still enjoyed Dom3. I appreciate what Illwinter does, I just don't care to support it anymore because its not really pushing anything forward enough to justify spending more money on it. Maybe by the time Dom5 comes around.

Playing without having steam load, online or offline, is the goal. ^^ This, as per my OP for those who read it . I would guess there is no reason to get 3 if you are getting 4. 4 doesn't seem drastically different from 3 anyway, just improves on it, there wasn't much to love about 3 anyway that shouldn't also be present in 4. Though I'm not bothering with 4 for the time being. From what I can tell the mirco and UI are still below my standards.
