Hi all, I have a similar problem, related to WORD 2013, and I found out what the problem is (for me). It is related to the Home Group: consider to open a file (with word, publisher and so on) that belongs to another computer of the Home Group. Then, the file will be shown in the context menu of Word in Start8, among the Recent Files. That menu is shown hovering the mouse over Word, or Publisher, or PowerPoint, just like Duelshotgunner did. Now, if the computer in which

Hi, I like very much the new feature, which allows to see the taskbar under the Windows 8 start menu. However, I actually think this should be enhanced: in particular, I use Windows 7 style, but sometimes I get into the Windows 8 Start. In this condition, I can't take advantage of the new feature. So I really would like to use the new feature even when getting into the Windows 8 menu FROM the Windows 7 menu. Other few features that I would like to see are a
I must update this post. 1) the top 4 pixels are now available (in Start8 1.14 beta) enabling "Disable all hot corners in Desktop". 2) I found out what is the problem related to ModernMix. If trying to launch the Charms Bar from the top left corner (the transparent icon created by ModernMix for the Modern UI apps), the Charms will be shown only if the mouse pointer hasn't reached the top corner of the screen. Or the Charms will fail to appear. I'm not sure if t
After a lot of attempts, I found out that the login on desktop is the source of some problems (some conflicts, I don't know) that are causing the deletion of the icon cache. The thumbnails of every type of files is deleted (not every time, just sometimes, I can't say exactly how and why). Moreover, sometimes after a desktop login, opening the Windows 8 Start screen, it is "blocked": live Tiles are correctly animated, but the mouse wheel doesn't
In my opinion, there are some point in which the integration between ModernMix and Start8 should improve. For example, when the charms bar is disabled on the desktop (with Start8), ModernMix is unable to make it appear from the apposite button. It should happen. instead. Moreover, Start8 still miss a few features to be perfect. 1) One thing that I still miss is the use of the top 4 pixels in the desktop: if I would like to select a Group of files onto the desktop,
There is a bug in the text in the Start8 search box. When in the Resolution options the dimension of elements is changed from 100% to an higher dimension (101% or more) the text is not correctly showed in the search box. There it is a screenshot: http://img37.imagevenue.com/img.php?image=999363246_Problem_122_222lo.JPG please fix this, that box text is the only think in the desktop
Olivir2012, the images you see in my post are REAL images, it is ALREADY possible using MetroUI and Start Menu Modifier. So I am sure that it is possible, because these features already exist with other programs... But both are not working properly (some limitations, more work is still required)... and I'll love to see everything unified in a single, perfect program - and it might be Start8. Of course this is my humble opinion, and I admit that Start8 1.11 is
I agree with the previous comments. In my opinion, moreover, it should be present an option to do a "full shutdown" instead of the the hybrid shutdown of Windows 8. Currently it is possible pressing shift while clicking on "shut down" on Start8, but in my opinion it is a bit user-unfriendly. So in my opinion the two problems might be solved togheter in this way: 1) adding the option "full shutdown" among the shutdown options in Start8 2) automati
I'm very glad about Start8, it has more or less the same functionality of Start in Windows 7, with some good features more, like the possibility of manage Metro apps. it still has some very little bugs that I and other users noted, and I'm sure that they will be fixed soon. Thank you for your hard work. If the "desktop" functionality is almost perfect, the only things that should be improved concern the Modern UI apps. In particular, I'm pretty sure
Edit: the problem has been partially correct in 1.11 Beta version of Start8. However, a new problem occurs in the new version. When I disable the Charms Bar, in the 1.11 version, finally is again possible to drag the desktop as a Windows 8 app, and then use the Snapped view correctly. But when i put the mouse pointer in the top RIGHT corner, the "little hand" that appears in the top 4 pixels of Desktop, used to drag it as a Windows 8 app, doesn't apper. O
I modified the post according to the new features in Start8 1.11 beta.
I want to report 3 bugs in the latest version of Start8 (1.11 beta) 1) When I disable the Charms Bar, in the 1.11 version, finally is again possible to drag the desktop as a Windows 8 app, and then use the Snapped view correctly. However, when i put the mouse pointer in the top RIGHT corner, the "little hand" that appears in the top 4 pixels of Desktop, used to drag it as a Windows 8 app, doesn't apper. Only the mouse pointer is shown (as it used to happen in the 1.10
Nobody can tell me something?
As the title says, I disabled the Charm Bar and I found 2 bugs: 1) As I wanted, the desktop can no longer be closed as a Windows 8 app (grabbing it from the top to the bottom of the screen), but the top 4 pixels are still unusable (this is a very little bug, but maybe it should be simple to fix); 2) It's impossible to close Windows 8 snapped apps when Desktop occupies the greatest part of the screen. It seems that when the Charm Bar is
Thank you so much. In my opinion this is the most significant bug of Start8, and the only one that I noticed, together with the little bug occurring when auto-closing the submenus. When this bug will be fixed, IMHO Start8 will be absolutely the best start program for Windows 8. Thank you for your work.
Hi, I'm using the latest version of Start8, and I'm having this problem since using the 1.1 beta. When "Automatically go to desktop" option is enabled, when I get into the Windows 8 Start for the first time, the Live Tiles are blocked, though the menu is still usable. Is just like seeing a "photo" of the Windows 8 Start, everything is motionless. When I get back to desktop and then again into the Windows 8 Start, the problem is fixed. This problem
