I have pretty much moved on from the likes of Skype to Telegram and Discord. Both services are much better suited for creating private chatrooms, in the case of Discord with multiple channels, as well as having voice chat if you need it. They also have far better support on a variety of platforms from Windows to Linux and mobile phones. All with very discrete hardware profiles when compared to Skype. The big issue with Skype is that the software is really out of date by now, especiall

The market chose Escalation over the base game, that is pretty obvious. This entire blog seems rhetorical in nature. But what I really want to have is a roadmap for Escalation. Something that has been lacking for the last few months now. There are features and updates that were promised, some all the way since the base game, that we are still not sure when and how they are arriving: Steam Workshop Support Modding Tools Juggernauts T5s

After the success of the first Game Night I am scheduling a second one. This time on Saturday (28th). This is an event for all players of Ashes (Escalation) to log on to Discord/Steam and play some games together. PVE or PVP, 1v1s, teams or FFAs. It's all about having fun. Like last time I will be trying to stream some games too so if folks want to invite me as an observer I'll do some light hearted commentary. Event starts at 1800 UTC-0, or 1900 CET and

This Sunday I am inviting all owners of Ashes of the Singularity Escalation to come play friendly games, both PVE and PVP, with your fellow neophytes. I hope that as many people who are available will come and at least hang out. You don't need to play or even have a mic to just poke in. Maybe observe a game or two if we have a couple of really good PVPers jousting. This is all about enjoying Ashes together. Officially the event will start this Sunday (22nd) a

After some experimentation in the beta I have discovered that the one setting in the graphical options that most taxes my i5 and gtx 660 is the terrain shading setting. Both in DX11 and DX12, if I set the terrain shading to low the game runs pretty consistently at a minimum of 30 FPS in the benchmark. I can then get away with upping all of the other settings to either medium or high. Now my units and weapons fire look beautiful but the terrain looks like someone threw up on it. <

Discord, for those who do not know, is a combination of IRC and Teamspeak. It can be run in your browser or natively on your machine (Windows, Mac, Linux-coming soon). It's simple, free and made by gamers for gamers. Seeing as no one else has made a server specifically for Ashes of the Singularity I've gone ahead and set one up. You can join it using the link below. If you have not used Discord before I recommend you create an account after joining to reserve your username and downloa
