The Orville is basically a passion project for Seth. He was tired that the Trek he knew was dead and there is no sign of it coming back. So he basically made a TNG/Voyager like show of his own. The name changes and forced attempts at humour make it different enough not to get sued. Honestly going by the first two episodes it has some real potential for being a spiritual successor to Star Trek, but they might want to dial back the Seth jokes. Otherwise, it really is just TNG in all but name an

I don't really agree with the use of the word humanoid here. I think when you say humanoid what you really mean is anthropomorphic. But, I do see what you are getting at about exotic aliens. The Pixar-like art style probably has a lot to do with this. For myself, it is far more about the writing. We also have not properly seen all of the aliens, let alone animation or voices for them. So there is still a lot to flesh out. An example of how "humanoid" aliens can still be cool are the B

That event already passed.
My biggest fear is that the Internet, which was meant to liberate ideas and groups, has inadvertently created the tools to discretely control information and empower tribalism the likes of which we have never seen before. Between the influence of advertisers and governments, we have seen a great deal of erosion of free speech already. However, it is things like this where a single website or service can hold unprecedented power over what the world knows and thinks about an individual or
Thinking we will use the 2.5 opt-in this Sunday.
We have an official server for Star Control Origins and the franchise as a whole. This server was originally linked in the Founders' Vault but as time has passed many are still unaware of its existence. Joining the server is not mandatory, but it is a good idea since it is where a lot of the community activity and developer discussions now exists. Discord is a text and voice chat service that allows for multiple channels and features. It is free to sign up and you can use it on y

I'm kind of surprised this has created such a heated response. Eternal & Infinite was highlighted earlier on, though maybe not so explicitly. Brad has also talked about strategic and simulation elements being a long term goal in the two voice chat Q&A sessions we have had on Discord. Whether you are optimistic, pessimistic or neutral about the idea it is not something we are going to see for something like two years or more. Brad has made it quite clear that the focus is

This was an amazing evening. I spent over six hours doing this. Thank you, everyone who joined and had fun playing.
This is a good overview for players who may not be aware of the strengths and weaknesses.
[quote who="Jythier" reply="1" id="3688055"] Sounds like fun, hopefully I can make it out. I have never played against an AI higher than Intermediate at this point, but I'm considering moving up to the next level as I stomped them last time (but on a tiny map which matters I think). SM does not contain all combat elements though. Planetary combat and modular flagship combat mechanics will be Adventure-only. So development of SM can only go so far whilst Adventure will combine just about all elements.
Bleybourne: I also disagree with your assertion that people mostly played SM. I know that I did not. Honestly, unless you have friends to play with in local PVP SC2's SM isn't that engaging. Just because a game is fun with friends does not mean that the game itself is fun. SC2 lives on in memory because of its adventure. Also, just because you spent a lot of time playing a certain game or game mode does not mean that time was as high quality as playing a different game or game mode. S
