So, where did you go to learn to backpeddle so fast? Completely different (180degree turnaround) from your other post where you say that Stardock should show that OD does NOT work well with Win10. Yet in the post above you seem to kiss....... something... so as not to upset the 'management'. Way to go to show your resolve......
Perhaps one day when Microsoft actually settles on what Windows 10 is 'supposed to be' then maybe such GUI enhancements as Docks etc can be made to function with confidence. Let's be abundantly clear. Windows 10 is a constant Beta. Any program which alters without user option/input is thus in a state of uncontrolled and unsolicited flux and therefore is a beta program ie unfinished.
You're not wrong there a
@basj,talking web page design and content management for a mement, not technicalities of the product ... I agree that there is a "mention" that Windows 8 / 7 are supported, but that's right down at the bottom of the page, and could be easily overlooked by anybody who is so impressed by the blurb earlier on in the page extolling its glories that they forget to scroll down to the very bottom of the page. IMHO, while this might be classed by some as a "clear mention" by som
And Stardoock sent out an identical email inviting purchase of ObjectDock on 04 May 2017, and before that on 01 March 2017 and 11 January 2017 and 11 November 2016 and ... Please, please stop sending these marketing emails without mentioning in them that ObjectDock isn't supported for WIndow 10.
Stardock sent an email today (16 July 2017) inviting purchase of ObjectDock. If you click on the "Get it now" button you are taken to an online order page that makes no mention whatsoever the ObjectDock is not supported in WIndows 10. This is very poor form shown by Stardock, because you would only diiscover this after you've paid for and attempted to run it on your WOndows 10 system
Microsoft are NOT going to be continuously changing everything all the time. Some things will change from time to time, to fix bugs, add features, comply with changing industry standards and interfaces (APIs), etc. I started with IBM in 1970, and change has been constant (sometimes dramatic), that's life! Microsoft is pretty good at maintaining backwards compatibility, but this can put a brake on change for the better so it's a two-edged sword.
Jafo, just got an incoming e-mail announcing the following, and am hoping that "soon" really means soon: ------------------------------------------------------------------- Object Desktop™ 2016 now enables you to customize your Windows ® 10 machine.
Any progress report, Jafo and/or other Stardock staff?
I am an Object Desktop subscriber, but have never seen anything (in my profile or in any emails received over the years) about beta versions being offered. How does it work or how is it supposed to?
Oh, I goofed yet again. Didn't mean the Windows 10 Insider Program (which I joined when it was launched many moons ago). I thought that the post (by anarkys on 19 August) was referring to some sort of Stardock insider program (beta testers program). Is there such an animal? I'm keen to assist.
How does one get "insider preview build 10525" that's mentioned somewhere in this WindowBlinds thread" (and, for that matter, how does one get on the list for any insider previews)? I'm keen to help Stardock test WindowBlinds for Windows 10 so as the help get it released earlier rather than later. It's the only non-Microsoft product in my "must have" list that is holding me back from upgrading to Windows 10.
Okay, Windows 10 has now been shipped, and it would be nice to get some indication from Stardock as to when we might see a beta version that we can test with Win10. Surely that's not too much to ask for?
Well, it's 18th July, and reports are going the rounds that Windows 10 now have released Windows 10 to manufacturing (RTM). Other companies whose software I use have mentioned in their newsletters that they've been actively testing their products against Windows 10, but Stardock has unfortunately remained steadfastly mute on this matter. For example, One example is TechSmith (makers of Snagit, Camtasia Studio, etc) who said in their 15th July newsletter:
The trick is to watch what the bloke in reply #1 in this thread has to say re the topic.
Yes indeed. ... Neil, please enlighten us on Stardock's planned timeline on this matter .
Well, RTM is verging on being released, see Microsoft to finalize Windows 10 this week (The Verge - 06 July 2015) so I sincerely hope/expect that the WindowBlinds team at Stardock will get hold of the RTM final build at the very earliest opportunity and commence beavering away furiously to get a test version ready in coming weeks.
I think that it's quite silly to say that "people need to realise this simple fact.windows 10 is completely nothing like 8." Indeed, Microsoft has been very careful to ensure that there are many, many functions in Windows 10 that are similar if not identical to Windows 8. I have extensively tested many of them for compatibility/differences, and to finish off my test suite I wanted to at least attempt installation of WindowBlinds in the Windows 10 Insider Preview. Inc
Yeah, I know, but I'd still like to try WindowBlinds8 under my copy of Windows 10 Pro, Insider Preview version. Stardock was quite slow in coming out with WndowBlinds8 some months after Windows 8 was released, and I'd like at least the chance to test WindowBlinds8 "as is" and see what happens. (It won't cause any harm because I'm running the preview inside VirtualBox.) Perhaps early feedback from this would enable Stardock to come out with WindowBlinds10 a little earli
Well, it's 29 June and the Windows 10 release is now only 30 days away. When does Stardock expect to start testing on the RTM version of Windows 10 and tell us roughly when WindoBlinds10 (or whatever it will be called) might show up in beta form so that we can all check it out and provide feedback to you. Why not reconsider this decision and let us at least have a go at installing WindowBlinds8 on the technical preview just to see what happens (we will understand that it probably
