Thanks Cavan (a little late) It would have been more correct for me to say that my video adapter does not seem to run at anything less than 800x600. At any rate, I am back after a year or so of learning win32 assembly language. Maybe I can write a few tools and so on - maybe even hit the 800x600 issue.
the video drivers on my machine support 800 x 600 as the lowest screen resolution this is kind of nice - if you need safe-mode, it is better than 640 x 480 [e digicons]|-)[/e] but, the 640 x 480 skins are "stretched" out to 800 x 600 the vidstub.sys driver seems to only allow 640 x 480 skins has anyone else had this experience ? if so, have you found a way to use 800 x 600 skins ?
i would say it is "safe" however, changing the boot screen that way is a pretty good "hack" that makes it look a little shady - lol it has advantages over altering the kernel file, though
