Just plain dirty. Next time waiting for steam. What was the benefit to early access and being on epic? No one wanted to be on Epic, and one of the only benefits to it was the possibility to savings being passed down. Not here. Rather valve get the 30% honestly if the gouging starts this early. Not sure how I really feel on it yet. I would refund if I could, don't think I ca

Hey, not sure, if you follow Discord, even if you dont post there anymore, but i asked about that phasegate/antorak thing, and the response from devs was, in their internal testing they felt having the antorak option was too powerful, especially, since you could have now more of those easily than in Rebellion (since its not gated by the need of getting experience). So they resolved it by phasegate drop instead, as its more easier to counter (phasegate can be destroyed more easily). So
I guess quoting is not really needed, since its only us talking :-) Thanks, will do, i am kinda curious, what their answer will be. Regarding the visual thing, in hypothetical scenario, where they would go on with the idea, i dont think it would have that kind of visual representation - you are right, it would look funny, but not really good. Some kind of vortex effect, or whatever, especially if it was active ability like Antorak had, would be possible and perhaps welcome.</p
I haven't been on the discord for a few months now; I didn't lose interest in the game (SoaSE is still by far my #1 game) I've just been doing a few other things while I waited for the vasari to debut. I wonder if it'd make sense for the alliance to get phase gates earlier, but have the exodus get phase gates as a ship/starbase component instead? I do agree though that by the time exodus gets phase gate access it's bet
Hey there, whats up with you? You stopped posting to Discord for whatever reason, thought you lost interest in the game. Totally agreed about phasegates, i used to build them all the time in Rebellion, but now they come late, are expensive, require slots you may not have at that point available. They are indeed still strong tech, but i am not quite sure, whether they are now more precious, or less useful, as the result of these changes. Especially as Exodus, once you go on the
Another fellow VL lover, i mean Exodus lover, hehe. Man of culture, i see. Agreed about the short cooldown on the kostura-like ability, 180 sec would be better. The weapon shenanigans are down to lack of new model, all of that will be fixed with its addition.
Quoting Norska, reply 4 Sounds like you are talking about David Weber’s Safehold series which is very good. I have read about 8 of them iirc. I'm a huge fan of David Weber and epic length novels in general. I read every book in the Safehold </e
I agree with the TEC related part, Loyalists could use more unique stuff to differentiate. Like said minefields or additional defense structure. Garrison could be made their specific tech as well. Advent for sure need more attention as well, IMO they were the least differentiated in Rebellion. Especially Rebels were rather meh, with Loyalists you could at least mind-control ships and take over planets with Titan, which was their cool stuff. Regarding Vasari, VL should be made
Since Titans just dropped in latest update and we can now see what are they about, just wanted to use this opportunity to voice my suggestions regarding upcoming Vasari factions once more, as they are presumably the next ones to be added. VL were my fav faction in Rebellion, cause of their mobility theme and their Titan the most fav one in both looks and function. I used to role-play as sort of aliens from ID4, "going from planet to planet", so more nuances conductive to that particular plays
Vorastra forever. Nothing better than giant teleporting, enemy fleet nom-noming, darkfleet beaconing, Manta Ray of Doom.
What specifically do you mean?
Gaming 101 is new toys(ships) ..it gets players blood flowing and wanting to come back for more. Every game sequel includes new units to expand the combat and keep things interesting. It also softens the eventualities of comparision to the first game. IMHO Every returning race in this game should have at least two new Cap ships amongst some new frigates. Does every races need loyalist/rebels?
Quoting wbino3556, reply 2 Are you planning any new ships? Or just a remake of all the old ones? There will be new ships for other races showing up...
Like replacement for the old ones, or in addition to them? <p
I suppose they taken that from SupCom, where individual projectiles were simulated too. And it really did. Not make that much sense as it was such a big scale game, that it rarely mattered. I mean with nukes and anti nukes maybe.
Quoting Timmaigh, reply 2 This is IMO what Falling Frontier is shooting for, big scale RTS/4X combo, but with smaller scale battles and ships not so easily replaceable. This is IMO what Falling Frontier is shooting for, big scale RTS/4X combo, but with smaller scale battles and ships not so easily replaceable. Pretty much as if Sins was just capship game. Personally, i prefer how Sins is doing it, or better said, if FF doing it that way, i am fine with Sins sticking to its bigger scope, SupCom like approach. It kinda makes more sense as well, no point in big multi-planet maps, if you dont have enough ships to cover them. I see moving turrets
I'm so glad to see that Sins II is coming along so fantastic. It looks amazing and the gameplay is great, I can't wait to see the Advent and Vasari! I've been thinking of ways to make the factions really stand out from each other in new ways based on playing in the current build. Research: I know a lot of folks have been clamoring for multiple simultaneous research tracks to speed things up. My idea for research is to ha
Hey Timmaigh, we're actually tracking this bug interesting visual difference as well. It should eventually get fixed, it's just lower on the priority list right now. It's a Fresnel effect issue.
Thanks! I did not want to be nit-picker, the game is really pretty, and obviously it has no bearing on me enjoying playing it, but i am the kind
I cannot - that's generated by the materials in use and the light sources in the game. Though I'm not 100% sure what you're referring to? Any bright lit parts are windows.
Not windows. I mean bright lines in the highlighted area.
Nice! Question regarding graphics/visuals, can you somehow remove the specular highlight on parts of the model, that is in shadow? I mean the parts of the model on the first picture around the mobile corvette factory and the back of the ship behind it look not right. Lot of the lit egdes on the paneling in places, where it should not be IMO. It takes away from otherwise very pretty graphics. If its something only solvable by something like raytracing, how about that?
My fav memory is probably reading this interview sometimes in early 2012 - this is when i realized how Rebellion might be much better game than vanilla Sins, with lot of exciting new stuff. And it turned out to be true. http://pc.gamespy.com/pc/sins-of-a-solar-empire-rebellion/1217222p1.html Another moment was during the beta phase, when someone figured out how to play Vasari faction, despite them being not available to play yet - so i finally got to see Vorastra ingame or try
Well if it’s not true then they are making a lot of smooth surfaces with more polygons instead of drawing in more details. Large capital ships often look like they are made of flat uninteresting sides. Which would be in keeping with the minimalistic art style. For me this is a backwards step. I do however like the new cobal frigate model. I do think that the fortnite style art is a trend these days that ends with games looking
This thread is dedicated to recommending a book you read in the past year. One book (per comment anyway). Here is my 2022 recommendation: Hail Mary by Andy Weir. I really enjoyed his other books such as The Martian and actually liked this one better. Would make a terrific movie as well.
I was not saying bombardment should be removed. Simply that better options should exist. Graphically sins2 is a let down for me. I think sins1 had more detail and probably better models. I am not a fan of the cartoon like simplified cell shaded kind of stylised srt in game. It seems that these days developers love to let the game engine effects do the hard work, saving polygons on the models.
I se
I have never been a fan of nuclear bombardment of a planets surfsce. Respetcfully disagreed. This is one of the coolest scifi tropes and should definitely be the way to go. It was cool moment in every scifi show it was on screen - from Star Trek DS9 "Die is Cast" episode through Babylon 5 and Centauri bombardment or Narn Homeworld to recent Foundation. I am not saying i am oppose
