You've offered no reason for wanting to cancel your pre-order. You are simply arguing whether you have the right. Since you purchased the product under Stardocks terms, then you are subject to the conditions they have established regardless of what other companies do or your perception of what should be. You paid for a full product and you will get the full product. By pre-ordering you are also eligible to beta access. The question is

Again, I could care less at this point as we are early beta. The game in its current state (beta 1 folks) is not meant to be played competitively. There should not be so much focus on flag locking at this stage. This is an obvious cry out for either taking it out temporarily to shift the focus of the gameplay, or nerf it to the point that it does not play such a key role. Flag locking would then be re-evaluated for a later beta depending on how the gameplay develops with it
If flag locking is so controversial, then just take it out. The only reason we're still discussing flag locking in place of strategy for capturing and holding a flag is because there is a flag locking item that is relatively inexpensive, long duration, and difficult to counter. I don't believe the focus of the game at any level should be on flag locking. The focus should be taking the other players base, with capturing flags a key role in that.
I went ahead and bought spore in spite of the DRM, in spite of the mass of complaints etc etc.... and well.... its not that bad. No, its not by any stretch an intense hardcore game. I'm not sure if it ever was meant to fill that niche. It falls more along the lines of SIMS then Civilization. Its a nice break from my other games (currently, COD4, DOTA, NCAA 09, Soul Caliber, God of War, Demigod Beta, and Sins). Spore fits nicely with the Wii theme.&n
If you get the 2 damage items (+65, +200) and max your bottom 10, you do more damage per second with a regular shot than you would sniping since sniping has a slight charge time. Add a few more attack speed items, and you can drain an AI rook in little time (I say AI, because any decent player would hit you with their boulder, hammer slam you, then slap you a few times for the kill). So yeah, mines, snipe, AOE nuke, etc are all distractions.
Good it'll scare off the dota players that think a game is based purely on it's number of heroes. We don't need people that think that way.
We? Who elected you as the voice for the Demigod community? If you were wondering why you recieved elitest insults on Sins, it would be because of comments like these.
hmm, i think neutral creeps at neutral capture points are viable. Perhaps after you capture, they respawn and defend that point for you.
Is this the norm or the exception in dota?
More the norm rather than the exception. Each type of hero iusually has 2 or 3 build routes. By type I mean: Ranged Int Ranged Dex Melee Dex Melee Str and there are a few heroes that are Melee int, and ranged str. For each of those types, there are good item paths. For example,
umm... its sorta fun. Its like playing a game of solitaire for me. Fun when I'm in the mood, but there are other games/things I'd rather put my time towards. Its definatly not at the crack cocaine level that DOTA is for me (i'm in rehab, I swear). I suppose if I were playing with a group of friends it would be more fun though we would probably need to set up some house rules before the match. I recognize the game for what it is, beta 1. It runs well
maybe he's refering to when the game is released...? In that case, we still don't have the details of ranking/matchmaking other than that it will be handled by impulse.
I'd like to see how well the AI is coded as the game develops. Personally, I'd hate to jump into a game mid-match to take a leavers/disconnected players spot. In many cases, that person left because they were losing meaning now you get to joing a match where the other team has the momentum. Would be nice to get back in a game you previously left just because of a lost connection, or other crash/error.
The rook already seems to be the favored child of the developers. He was likely the first Demigod produced. He's featured in most of the screen shots and takes a good chunk of the trailer. Based on the other Demigods we know of and the role the Rook fills, he already is the largest model, has the most base hit points, highest base damage, and of the 3 in Beta 1 has arguably the most diverse skill set (long range stun, aoe heavy nuke, drop towers, eat structures, and mounted
To me, its like the difference between starcraft and nearly every othe RTS I've played including C&C, SupCom, DOW, Dune (way back when), Sins, etc. In starcraft, every race is very unique. Sure you may say the races have unique things about them in the other RTS, but the unit functions the same in the same category across the board. There are slight differences (maybe one race has more hit points, maybe one has more damage, maybe 1 is faster), but they serve the
Well at least he made an effort to play the beta and come on the forums to make a post. Since he will not read the other posts, and maybe there's a chance he will come back to read this one, here are a few things to remember. As Kitkun has said, this is beta 1. Many of the features, demigods, maps, etc have been removed. Gas Powered Games and Stardock wished to see how the game would run on a number of different systems. Thats it. Balance, UI, Items
What do you mean no one has talked about it?! And it's be changed in next patch anyways.
What I was refering to was the OP's idea of making the boulder thrown rather than rolled. And no, everyone on this thread was talking about the "stupid wall" and nothing was said about the boulder. Yes the boulder has been talked about in several threads, increase cooldown, decrease duration, etc.</p
No Game Guide, its still beta. It would be in constant alteration and thus is reserved for when the game is nearly completed. View control - press spacebar and move your mouse. There you go. FPS - check your graphics settings, decrease if needed. If your still having big problems, post your dxdiag. Skill selection - already suggested but thanks. Movement speed - appears to be part of the balance that is still in progress. Too early to te
Instead of locking, make it a slower capture time (Subject to balance). Perhaps more than one flag lock could be placed at a time (limited 1 per demigod per 5 minutes or such). More Demigods would offset the slow effect. Example 1. You captured the flag and put down your 1 flag lock which has a 5 minute timer and a 5 minute cooldown (per player). An enemy demigod comes to capture. He has to spend twice the time to capture the flag back because of
Can't let everyone see him, unless he can see everyone. As LOS is shared among allies, then that pretty much negates Fog of war guaranteeing that every team would need minimum 1 rook.
In this area, items are more patterned after DOTA, then WOW or other RPG's. In DOTA, you can have whatever combination of items in your inventory. Some do not work together, some are unique, but if you wanted to have 4 great axes when it is apparent that your hero is carrying around a staff, then so be it. There's quite a bit of supsension of disbelief since obviously DOTA creators are not able to code in each item in as a graphic, representation. I'd like to see Dem
Achievements are great. I understand where innociv is coming from with players in matches purely for the achievement (screw the final outcome), but I really think they are the minority. COD4 has a thorough achievement/challenge section. Even if I enter the game with the attitude of "I'm going to work on my headshots with the MP5, it doesn't matter if I win or Lose", I almost always find myself getting pulled into the game and fighting fiercely for the win, not just the headshots.&
ah, but no one has really talked about throwing the boulder. This sits well with me. I really dislike everything about the boulder skill right now. 1. 5 second stun 2. 10 second cool down 3. stuns everything in a path 4. super long range (beyond FOG even). Somebody really likes the rook (the other 2 current demigods have no where near the tailored skills, IMO). If he threw the boulder instead of r
thumbs up to in game and end game scoreboards. Make it pull down or selectable or whatever.
Remember Killer Instinct? It was an old arcade fighting game in the Street fighter genre. The thing that really set Killer Instinct apart was the combo's. You could get these killer combos of 60+ hits, if you knew how to execute them. As the opposing player, you may as well just walk away once a pro starts into his combo. Sure, they had combo breakers, but even these had to be timed perfectly to get the freak off of you. My point is, if we buff all
It would be nice to see skill/items graphically represented so that a mouse over/select is not needed every time.
