As powerful your rig is and the games you listed are optimized for multi-core utilization, and are newer than the Iron engine that Sins runs on. Sins is a 32bit game that operates on a single core. Change the affinity to one core the game is running and that may help out. Also, trimming your empire tree helps as well.....
Alright, I'll change it to a single cor

This has been a problem with all of the Sins games for me, but this one really gets my goat, since they claimed to have made Rebellion work on multi-core computers. Essentially, regardless of what I set my graphics to, or how small I make the galaxy I'm playing in, my FPS goes throught floor. Computer specs are as follows Quad Core CPU at 2.83 GHz Two GTX 560 Ti Graphics Cards in SLI 8 GB DDR2 RAM running in Dual Channel mode Two 640 GB hard drives in RAID

I get a Download verification failure when downloading Crysis (and only Crysis) through Impulse. Sins of a Solar Empire downloads and verifies just fine, and disabling anti-virus software hasn't helped. I'm running Windows 7 Ultimate x64, on an Intel Core 2 Quad Q9550, 8 GB RAM, > 1 TB HDD. Virus scans, MemTest, ScanDisk have all come up clean. I've tried using the Reset Data function in Impulse twice. No effect. Please help. I really like playing this game, and every attempted

Allow us to choose a specialty for our planets. We already have Capital, but what about Military Stronghold, or Trade Menagerie? Having the same kind of planets have no real differences is kind of repetitive. I'd like to make that big desert planet into a huge military outpost, that would grant me some kinda bonus. The bonus wouldn't be as big as if you had found a planet special ability, but it would give you planet based orbital guns or increased trade revenue on a planet with many phase la

The support guys for Stardock e.g. Zubaz, are much more level headed than the other forum support people for games like Star Wars Galaxies and Everquest. +300 Karma for all of the forum monitors!! Also, love the beta we got with our pre-order. No Complaints Here!!

I would like to be able to use mods originally made for the first Sins with the Entrenchment mini-pak, especially since my Sins no longer works unless I install Entrenchment as well (no, the support team hasn't answered my question about this).

If Entrenchment sells well, Stardock really should A: thank their lucky stars, because everyone know how well-received delays are for games that are pre-ordered, and B: make the second (and possibly third) installment of these micro-expansions free. This delay (or delays, I can only confirm one) is inexcusable. We payed for a product to be shipped to us on an agreed upon date, etched in the magical plastic of credit cards...and the powerful companies who m

Heres one for you: I hav both the original Sins and Entrenchment. I also recently restored my computer, and decided to only reinstall Sins before installing Entrenchment. However, it kept giving me a "Sins of a Solar Empire has encountered a problem and needs to close". I reinstalled it again, and the same thing happened. Not until I installed Entrenchment would it work. Answer me that riddle.

Single Player campaigns are coming in Spring 2009 (Digitaly Purchase Only, so they say) Get the latest patch, everything that you mentioned seems to have been fixed, because I have been fighting VERY varied fleets that even Easy AIs have put out. Good Ideas, None of Them New.

UH...Disable some of Windows graphical effects and reactivate them till you find the troublemaker...Or ignore it...

I dunno...10 bucks...almost sounds too good to be true...and where are the rendering improvements that they promised nearly three months ago? I'm all for that stuff they mentioned (Starbases FTW), but I want them to make good on their original promises too.

It would seem that with the Vice Presidential debates on the horizon, the Republicans are realizing that McCain lying through his teeth and picking a VP candidate who knows nothing about anything relevant to this election, they are trying to get a safety net: they are requesting a highly structured debate, with Biden and Palin getting the questions well before Thursday, and giving anyone who isn't experienced enough *COUGH* Palin *COUGH* time to figure out how to answer each of the questions

It does bear disturbingly familiar hallmarks, but...America just sent three DDGs into a Georgian port... I don't think the Russians are stupid...besides, NATO and the UN (blech) work a hell of alot better than the League of Nations anyway. Nothing to fear YET.
Yeah. Call of Duty 5 is in development by Treyarch (not Infinity Ward) and is taking the series back to World War II after Call of Duty 4: Modern War. Activision is really on a roll with their whole "we're going to exploit our franchises as much as possible" mindset. There were rumors floating around a while back relating to Infinity Ward purchasing the rights for major Call of Duty iterations back from Activision so that Call of Duty X would always be an Infin

The GeForce 7600 appears to be the final AGP capable card produced by the GPU giant, nVidia. After an extensive search of the company's website and a thorough combing of reputable retailers, no model of card past the powerful, but aging, 7600 could be found with an AGP interface. For those of us still running on computers built before 2004, this spells trouble. Anyone seeking to upgrade to anything higher than a mid-range card is in for a bigger bill than originally expected. While ATI Radeon

The day we don't need good CPUs is the day we can all start using the original Pentium. Oh yeah, that's a grand idea. In fact, I'm gonna try that when I build my next computer. YOU HEAR THAT, TAYLOR?! I'LL SEND YOU THE BENCHMARK LOGS!!! You need a good CPU and GPU working in tandem to get a good system off the ground. I like nVidia GPUs. I like Intel CPUs. They are the two biggest sellers of their prime products. Why trash each other? I don't think nVidia SLI technology will ever replace the

Yep, thats right folks! One of the best FPS franchises is coming out with their fifth installment. This one looks like it will explore the dramatic Pacific Front of World War II, something no game in the series, including expansion packs, has done. Needless to say, this game looks good, judging by the trailer, and on the premise alone. Hopefully, we can expect another console favorite from our friends at Activision.

Also: Why in the hell would you pit a lvl 4 Akkan against 2 lvl 9 kortuls? That was sort of an accident, it was originally supposed to be one lvl 9 Kortul. Also, I never form fleets around just capital ships, I ran the scenario because one of my friends kept saying I should build Akkans.
