Rich people are rich because they are smarter than the average person, inherited a lot of money from their parents who were smarter than the average person, or won the lottery. Rich people often donate to charity because when they do, they're taxes get reduced (this is true!) Of course some will donate because they care about the cause :-) It's hard to define rich, because every person has a different opinion of what makes someone rich. ex: 1) A kid
