In the Individualism culture tree, the very first trait at the start of the tree is called Independence. It alters colony supply attrition by 15%. It is a PENALTY to the player. It makes attrition from colonies worse. Like if there is a colony with supply attrition of 10%, selecting the first Individualism "perk" makes it's supply attrition go to 12%. Somebody in Discord said it's basically no big deal, it doesn't make that much difference. Or that there SHOULD BE penalties in

Ok so it isn't just me getting the error when I try to get the Epic to Steam transfer key. Did the ability to do this expire or something? I see that people started asking about it last night, but no reply from the Stardock team yet. Guess I'll go back to BG 3 or something until they respond. Happy Friday !

Ok so I'm a long time GalCiv player, all the way back to the first Gal Civ I. I've played them all, a lot, from GC I to IV (even though III was a huge disappointment to me). I haven't played in probably around six months to a year, but I was pretty happy with GC IV a few months after it's release. I'm just looking for some feedback from fellow long time Gal Civ players. Is GC IV Supernova worth getting? Does it really bring something new and interesting to the table? Or am I fine stic

Doubled the cost of Supply modules for civilizations with the Proliferation trait. Well that's rude, you went and partially fixed one of the cheezy things I liked exploiting. Other than making me re-evaluate how I want to build a custom civ now, looks like nice changes and fixes. Happy Friday !

Just curious, what do people hope to see in the changelog when 1.0 is released on Tuesday? The only thing I really care about seeing is something like: "Fixed the AI surveying anomalies without having a survey ship bug." If I don't see something to that effect, I'm just going to keep playing Pathfinder WotR until GC 4 is ready [e digicons][/e] Anything else that might be in the changelog for 1.0 would just be a little more icing on the cake to

25% of a resource is where the huge jump occurs, just fyi. Also on the main screen, there is a menu at the top right where you can see a list of all the other civs you are in contact with. On that list, they will have some little gold colored boxes by the name of the civ when you are able to trade with them again. Hope that helps. Happy Friday !

The districts are essentially just the "basic" buildings of the district type. A basic factory to boost manufacturing a bit, basic entertainment center to boost morale a bit, basic financial center to boost income a bit, etc etc etc. You can also find techs later that you can use to boost all of the districts of a specific type all at once. Welcome to the boards ! Oh you might also want to check out the Discord channel, the devs talk there on a fairly regular basis. &n

Nice little overview. I can't really help with suggestions on screenshots to use though, because I am one of those people that doesn't care much about how something looks; I care much more about how it plays. I do admit that if you want the eye candy, when you zoom in stuff does look really cool [e digicons]:P[/e] Happy Holiday Weekend !

That is a pretty good point. I was also a bit confused first time I started a new game, wondering "ok where is the start/next button?" So kinda like Basilisk83 said, I just picked the button where "next" would usually be located. One of those things I forgot all about mentioning because I just didn't pay attention to it like a brand new user would. Happy Holiday Weekend !
Quoting DerekPaxton, reply 26 As for the Mimot. I want the player to feel like they are ravenous little monsters so I agree with the suggestions to decrease the food on their starting planet. It isn't about "nerfing" them. But forcing the player to make different
Just curious, what galaxy sizes are you guys playing with? Right now, I've been mostly playing with just a few smaller sectors, and the Mimots don't feel OP. Strong, but not OP. But I can see how on a bigger map, or a map with a lot of planets, the Mimots would just be insane.
Ya everything is a little bit situational, depending on what kind of map layout you prefer to use. I prefer bigger maps, so I current

Ok so I decided to see how much I could break stuff again, and went way off the traditional rails for making a custom civilization. I knew I wanted to tinker around with a synthetic race at some point, so I picked Synthetic for my custom civs biology (obviously). I didn't want to play with Yor citizens though, that is just too normal robot looking. As I was browsing through the citizen types, I saw this cool looking new one they added; the Scryve. Not only did they look cool (kinda fr

Ya when I first started browsing the different civs figuring out what I wanted to play, I saw the Mimot and thought to myself "Holy sh*^, those seem like ridiculously over powered abilities". So I decided to play other stuff at first, kinda figuring the Mimot would be in for a bit of nerfing soon. But then I saw some posts on the boards or Discord (probably both) that mentioned the Mimot were a favorite of the devs. So then I figured oh ok, this will be just like every other game I ha

In one of the sets of patch notes, you showed all of the stat bonuses/penalties each race gets. Like the Baratak get +3 diligence, -1 social, -1 intelligence (or whatever their stats +/- were). It would be really nice if you showed those bonuses and penalties on the start screens and drop down menus when selecting a race to use for custom civs. Seeing the numbers are much better than a vague word description, for some people. Like me... Keep up the great work ! <

Oh nice, love that we are getting more citizen types and leaders for making custom civs. Also great that we can select the Commander Ship types, instead of having them tied to whatever it is they are currently tied. Great that the manufacturing district is finally getting fixed. They finally have a base manufacturing output that at least equals pollution output !!! [e digicons]:P[/e] Also glad to see the hp boost for the bigger ships. Helps make them seem more viab

Nice little summary. I haven't played the Yor yet, so it is nice to get a little perspective on where they are at. Since I haven't played them yet, I can't really comment much on balance stuff you mentioned; but there are a few things your post gave me thoughts about. While I don't think the pop cap should be eliminated, maybe they could have a bit larger population. They are robots, so yeah they should be able to pack more in there without penalties. Letting them have a MUCH

When you view the planet on the galactic map, one of the buttons should give you a little bar at the bottom showing the ships in orbit. Click on the ship you want to eject to highlight it, then right click onto the hex you want it to eject into. For fleets it is similar. When you select the fleet on the galactic map, it should have a little bar to the right of the fleet window, showing you the ships in that fleet. Left click to highlight the one you want to remove, then simply right c

So there has been lots of talk about balancing fleet combat etc. I always thought the system from Gal Civ 3 would actually work pretty good if it was just tweaked a little bit. The ship roles are a great idea, they just need to adjust how they interact with each other a little bit. For example: Assault ships go straight for support ships, then capital ships, then whatever is left. They start on the first (front) line. Interceptors go straight for assault ships, then ca
