FIXED! At least that did it for me, a re-install via Impulse and now the game runs. When I reinstalled it went all the way to version 1.40.

No ideas, just the same problem you seem to be having. Did the "verify" bit and it said things were ok. All I get is the little shield up where you can click on either Play or Manual. Neither one does anything! I think I wll try the Uninstall, Re-install next.

Impulse updated to version 1.40 but the game will not start up.

"RETIRE" of Human not adding points correctly? in Galactic Civilizations II GalCiv2 Forums

I have "retired" a few times as the Human and alwyas get a DEFEAT message, even though I "outscore" the other races. On the summary screen all of their scores are added correctly in the far right column, but not added correctly for the humans! I think this is a bug.
