aw man. I hope when you are human that the in-game solar system is exactly like the real one, with mars, saturn, jupiter, etc. I hated that about GC1, how the planets in the starting solar system were random in number and in name. So lame.

needystranger, its not about one turret being about to track multiple targets simultaneously, but a captial ship worth hundreds of billions of credits simply having more than one gun. especially given that a giant ship would be ineffectual at maneuvering around trying to hit super-fast fighters flying around it with its one stupid gun.

sure, the link is http://images.stardock.com/ss/shotstore/19/The%20Universe/new-6.JPG as you can see theres a little pink leaf thing there, "trade good" thanks for answering my question!

Hey I was looking at a screenshot of the planet screen on your website and saw that the planet had a tradable resource or something? I haven't heard anythign discussed about trading specific resources like Civ4 but if thats the case--awesome. it would give a reason for players to conquer and hold specific planets for rare resources, which is extremely realistic, I think.

after thinking about it for a bit i totally agree with you on your position SD . It's not like starwars, where a tie fighter is literally 1 millionth the mass of a capital ship. if a fighter is 1/5 the size of a capital ship, it makes a lot more sense to have the game balanced that way.

aw bummer, whole fleets mob up on one unit at a time? i thought it would be cool ships just paired off and engaged eachother randomly. battle sequences would look very cool. anyways, i figure the game has already computed the outcome of the battle by the time it has started

wow i can't believe a dreadnought can only attack one fighter at a time! I would think something like that would have like 20 spray cannons on there for fighters alone. i guess GC2 weaponry is more akin to Star Trek or something. If so i can dig it.

Stardock, have you ever contemplated making a GC real time, perhaps akin to the style of Europa Universalis 2? It looks and feels like a TBS, but everyone can move and maneuver at the same time. Would love to hear your thoughts on the subject. Thanks!

I've always hated the trading of technologies in all strategy games. It takes away from the unique personality of the races. I find micromanaging in order to check who has what techs to trade every turn for every race annoying, but if you don't do it, you fall behind. I think the whole business should be excluded from the game entirely.

Great discussion, I completely agree with a lot of the points made here. The best matches are truley when you go to bed at night thinking of how to gain some tiny advantage or exploit a weakness because the game is so deadlocked. I hate it when the AI has the overwhelming advantage in the beginning, and then the player has a rediclulously overwhelming advantage in the end. SO many times I quit a game prematurely because there was simply no way I was go
