I haven't played for a while and updated to 2.03. Has something been changed when calculating combat? Playing as Yor in combat with the Krynn I had a medium hull 2/0/0 2/0/0 with 25 HP vs 4 small Krynn ships 3 x 1/0/0 0/0/0 and a 2/0/0 0/0/0 9 HP each and I didn't manage to destroy a single ship. I find this odd considering that they had no defence against my weapons yet only one of them had a weapon equal to my defence! I felt I had a fairly good grasp of combat i

Whilst there might be some overlap, destroyers are generally bigger than frigates, so it looks a bit odd to see destroyers on a tiny hull. I usually think corvette/frigate/destroyer/cruiser/battleship.
No survey ship conversions, all original warship builds. 2/0/0 : 0/0/6 : 20HP vs 0/0/2 : 0/0/0 : 8HP
So huge hulled state-of-the-art uber ships will not gain hardly anything...
This isn't what I'm experiencing, I'm used to normal levelling, this was a medium sized ship beating a single fighter and gaining a level. Even when my ship was at level 40 it would still gain a level for each fighter killed. I say ship, there were about half a dozen exhibiting the same behaviour, yet others of the same type would ju
I recently had a game (ToA v2.02) where I built some medium size ships and after a while I noticed that some were level 20+. I paid more attention to them and saw that every time they killed something they increased by one level exactly, regardless of what they beat. Since I was fighting an AI with only fighters at the time this meant that they were levelling pretty quickly. This ability seemed to disappear after I upgraded the ships to a better design, ex
When I get the Galactic Guide Book (free survey modules) I build a heap of unarmed (so no maintenance) scouts quickly, tiny hulls with an engine, living quarters and a survey module to grab anomalies. They can be the fastest ships in my fleet sometimes.
I actually found the Jagged Knife quite beneficial. I use transports to keep my morale under control so the few times It's happened to me I just go and invade and get them back along with the AI's lost planets. The Peacekeepers have never bothered me, they just keep the AI at arms length until I'm ready to expand.
Yes it is, I think UL is a typo. I just downloaded and they say it's ~18MB. It's hard to tell because Impulse doesn't have a download meter.
Thanks, I'll just finish the game I have going and then update. I don't even have to register since the nice folk at Stardock did that for me last month so that I would be up and running once the patch was sorted.[e digicons][/e]
LOL. I came across one of the Ranger class (large map/normal AI) and it was a behemoth, something like 120/120/120 attack, 40/40/40 defense and a few hundred hit points. Since I was just about to win a conquest victory anyway I just dumped it on a planet. Just glad that the opposition didn't find it.
unless you get path 2.x but as far as i know it's not up for ultimate edition yet.
I'm guessing that Latch has the Ultimate Bundle, not the Ultimate Edition (you install everything at once with UE). In which case the quoted comment isn't relevant.
Kyro hasn't said that it isn't happening and I got an e-mail a few weeks ago that they were working on it. I can't imagine much will get done over Christmas and New Year though. [e digicons][/e]
It's a shame that you waited until now to ask because Play.com (UK) deliver to Finland for free and only want £4.99 for EU. It would probably be the New Year before you got delivery though. As for the Utimate Edition, it is only a single DVD so it is convenient to install and once the registration issue is sorted it will be a good option. I'm still enjoying it while I wait.
Sorry, that might have come across a bit harsh. The bit I quoted is actually from the readme in the Kalypso set up folder, so someone somewhere seems to have got their wires crossed.
I think it will be sorted out eventually but at the moment, from what I've read, Kalypso are supposedly responsible for any updates in relation to the Ultimate Edition...
Someone better tell them that then.
