Oh, I agree with you there, it is a cheap victory. I believe that is why the Diplo victory scores less than a comparative military conquest victory. Besides, it's just not as much fun. I usually turn off all non-military victory conditions.
Of course the AI can get a Diplo victory. All Allies share the victory when no opposition is left, so the player and the allied AI get the victory. If all the AI's were allied and not the player, the Allied AI would get the diplo victory when the player is defeated (you just won't see it, because you are dead).

I also started looking at the Great Galactic Swindle strategy, after you pointed the way over at the core, KP. I picked up with a medium game I was playing with the Arceans before MVL round 9, and I'm trying to convert it over to that strategy now. I don't have a lot of experience with FPS, but I really got my money's worth from BF1942. It may not have had the greatest graphics, but the online action was addicting especially with several friends on a voice chat. I still can't get the intro music out of my head. Rise of the Triad: I loved the flame wall gun and the funny sound effects when the burnt bones collapse after a kill.
Now I see what the problem was: I quoted KP's post that included a link to the round 9 thread over here, and my quote of a URL tripped the Spam sensors. They might want to put a warning out for us Noobs.
Thanks guys! :) It may have been the cut and paste. I think I was quoting a message that wasn't the last one, and I used ctrl-c and ctrl-v. I didn't see a 'quote' button like on this forum. Plus I used the dancing devil emoticon and was behind my work firewall. Like a binary chemical weapon all came together at the wrong place and time. :LOL: Now I can change my Core mood from Angry to Drunk. I can't figure out how to post the image without a website to place it on: anyway I mangaged to score 42000 using Korath DA, sucidal, medium without ARC. Which brings me to the other thing I can't figure out: I tried to use ARC to set up the Altarians with Iconis and Super Annihilator. Glad to be joining the league. I've created a new character for league play: "Ragnar MVL". I'll use this one to post MVL games.
I've been thinking about joining. I also have a pretty busy life with work, kids, and I'm in the National Guard. I am able to play about an hour or 2 most nights. With the summer coming up I will be really busy with the National Guard in July and August. August will be the worst, but I will have few days early and late in the month. When is the next round for new players?

I'm sure I played a lot of basic type games, but the first space strategy game I can remember playing was Stellar Crusade on my Tandy-1000. The original Bard's Tale was another I played a lot back then. Back before hard drives: loading DOS, then loading the game and saving to a 5&1/4 floppy - hard to imagine now.
I also use a modifier on my constructors, colony ships and transports for when I use better engines or more range: Fast Transport or LR Fast Constructor

Your armored dinosaur pic looks pretty nice, Seth. You should use that as your representation over the pokemon, much more fierce and worthy of fighting the Kzinti.
