Go for the eyes, Boo!

Congratulations, Brad and Stardock! It does go to show you that customer satisfaction is the key to a healthy bottom line. I'm glad to see a gamer go from programing his own game to the CEO of an expanding empire. Brad: Don't ever go public and lose your ability to control the company.
Some of the best benefits I had was when I worked at General Dynamics, a defense contractor. Unlimited sick days (I only used a handful, but it was nice to know it was available), and everyone got the week off between Xmas and New Years, paid.
Yes. I work for Raytheon. A very good steady job in the defense industry. We don't have unlimited sick days, but we do get the plant shut down between the Holidays. Not expected to work much more than 40 h
Id love to have a small LCD tv to get rid of my old one. Problem is the only room I can mount it is already cramped for space. I thought about wall mounting it and it seems like the best solution. Is there any way to mount a flatscreen on the outside of a corner so that the tv can turn to both sides?
I'd be afraid someone would run into it and knock it down.
I've also never had any problems watching SD or HD on the DLP and the HD is fantastic, especially football games. It seems you can see every blade of grass on the field. Sometimes its kind of scary seeing all the blemishes on the newscasters that were previously hidden by the SD.
There's also the DLP. We got a 57" DLP about 2 years ago. At the time you got more inches for your dollar over plasma and LCD. I don't know if that still holds true. You also don't get the pixel issues, burn-in, or glare and the color/contrast is superior to both. It looks like you have 180 deg viewing or as close as you can get. It is very light for the size. Disadvantages: You have about 17" of depth, so you must set it on something (we bought a n
I agree with Pigeonpigeon on the flexibility of the channeller. I think it could work that as your chaneller goes up in level or something like that, you get to choose a new bonus, which could be more power in an existing magic school, access to a new magic school or some type of special ability. I think that someone who specializes in a particular field would be able to cast the same lower level spells for more effect. I.E. the fireball as a base fire chaneller would do 10
Oil power plants pump countless tons of pollution into the air and pollute people's water supply. Even if global warming was made up, coal is still causing catastrophic environmental damage so denying global warming is a waste of time. Further more, ignorance on how the climate works and denying global warming is no excuse for causing reckless harm by continuing to use oil.
I've read that the eruption of Krakatoa put more polution and CO2 into the atmosphere
I certainly hope there is hotseat. I like to be able to play with my kids or wife or friends on the same computer. Age of Wonders uses a synchronous & asynchronous option. You can only play hotseat with the 'classic' turn order set, when playing single player you can use the simultaneous turn order, which essentially speeds things up. The computer usually decides what to do before I do, but occasionally I do move some guys first. You can run away with
I think Boo the minature giant space hampster should be a hero. How about giant Armadillo Cavalry, no need for barding. Kangaroo Cavalry: ready made pouch quiver for mounted archers, hops over castle walls and includes boxing gloves.
Thanks everyone! Too bad it didn't last longer, since I got in near the end, but I really enjoyed it while it lasted. I'll be happy to participate the next time something like this gets going again.
Quoting Brad:
Every bot would only play 1 game. A robot is a virtual player playing 1 game. There'd only be up to 200 to 300 of these robots playing on-line. The initial betas of Elemental will be relatively small in terms of the # of people allowed in. Obviously, the only real limit on the # of bots is the amount of hardware available. l If you disconnect from a game, the robot would go find another game. These are virtual players so they're going to do what any normal play
Quoting Vandenburg, reply 10 So yeah, whom else can you trust in the games industry? Paradox Interactive. It has at least from what I have seen and experienced always stepped up like SD and treated gamers right. It is very similar to SD in my opinion, which is why I have suggested several times that they should consider a merger.
Why? Isn't it better to have two good companie
Feist's Riftwar Saga is the top of my list. Tolkein and Jordan are alright, but Riftwar was the best for me. I like how the various series take on different perspectives and later generations in the same universe. The 'Empire' series Feist co-wrote with Janny Wurts takes place entirely druing the first 2 (or 1) book of the orignal Riftwar series, but from the other side. I also have been a big fan of David Drake, mostly sci-fi, but his Lord of the Isles fantasy serie
I'm still in. I like the current format with the multiple game types. Anything that leads to a team strategy and prompts discussion makes the MVL more viable, as opposed to just averaging up some game scores. Any thoughts on a new recruitment drive? I'm relatively new to the MVL, and I have not gotten burned out yet. We've had a few new players over these last few rounds that have been flaky and fleeting, but if we got a few more new players that
Good games guys. KP: I think you have a scoring mistake. It looks like you only gave team B, 4 points for base in the speadsheet. They should have 16 and be the sole winner of the round. Congrats team B. Sorry to see you go Silverbeacher.
I just got home from Thanksgiving about 30 mins ago. All day drive from Colorado to Texas. My in-laws have dial-up [e digicons]x_x[/e] ,so I didn't really check the net much over the last week. I don't have a back up game and no time for one now, so KP's will have to do for team D. Sorry.
I think the training should be something that can be varied. This could be a way to rush buy a unit: cut training in half for a penalty that the unit could later buy off by completing training. The scenario would be this: You have your 8 weeks to train knights in a town's barracks being trained and the town gets attacked halfway through the build cycle. Assuming they had all their equipment and some training they should be able to help defend the town at a
I read at least the first 2 or 3, but didnt continue beyond that. I think at the time I couldnt get any of the later books at the local library (before the internet, Amazon, etc). I see that there are now at least a dozen books.
I just started #11 on the Wheel of time, yesterday. I thought #11 was the last one published, because the author died. I'm hoping someone will pick it up and finish the series. #10 kind of dragged on a little, none of th
@ Silverbeacher: I'll vote for you in 2020! I agree with 99% of what you stated in your political views. I think our biggest problem from both major parties is that they are all about special interest and reelection, and not about representing the people. I think the founding father's vision was of the citizen servant that served a duty in office and then went back to their other life as a farmer, doctor, etc. not a career politician. The two things tha
While the above is obviously in jest, I still fail to see why anyone would throw their vote away on a third party candidate given the current system.
Because its time for REAL change, not the Obama different side of same coin. But I really don't like Nader either.
I guess I'm the only McCain supporter here. Well, there had to be one, right? [/q
Finally got a cold front in McKinney, TX: it was below freezing this morning! High of 69...another good number.
Ragnar: For which settings group was that game? Score or speed?

It should have been Speed since it was on a tiny map.
Yes, Speed setting #1.
Sounds like a rough game Ragnar! I think mine was lucky in that the with the planet placement, the AIs didnt have anywhere to colonize within 13 turns.
Yes, definitely rough. I posted some details in the team forum just a minute ago. Just not lucky enough (or patient
hmm... German beer is good (when you're actually in Germany... the stuff that's sold here as "German" beer is crap)
True that. I was stationed there for 3 years, I do miss the real beer. That Park Perminator was some killer stuff (11% alcohol if I remember right). Funny how the grass is greener: When I was first over there I was disappointed that I couldn't get Ales and Stouts, but now I miss a good Dunkel Weisen.
