congratulations to the winners!
Vag: heh, yea I'm all happy and stuff. Will celebrate for sure!
OMG OMG OMG OMG!!!!!½½½ *dances happy dance*
not counting D-R, I'd say (in this order) Resurgence, Enkera, Impulse, Machina and then I can't decide between Cardium II and LayerONE.
can't complain. Congrats winners!
whops. Didn't know Resurgence wasn't in this category.. Oh well, I guess that means Machina for gold then. Oh and I agree, Bunker for silver, it's awesome. Still don't know about third tho.. ;)
Resurgence, hands down.. Machina as second and I don't know about third..
VAG, no offense, but as I haven't even heard of the contest you're talking about, I'm not completely sure you should say that it will be made as a winamp community, as it can be misleading, making people think the _entire_ winamp community is onboard this one, which I highly doubt they are, yet anyways.. I know I'm not, yet anyways.. And this goes to everyone: Let's not stir shit up again here, a discussion is beeing held on the forums, and personally I think _everyone_ should stop with the
yea, a wa skins video would be cool
I'm pretty sure all skins/icon packages take alot of time and effort.
What alot of people don't realise is that the coding isn't just the glue that puts the graphics together in Winamp skins. Much of the code adds to the visual appearance of the skin aswell. And it's even possible to build a skin ENTIRELY in code, with no graphics at all! So how can you say this Brother Rabbit: "the opinion of a stupid programmer, computer technican or whatever you bunch of tools do for a living, should NOT be allowed to critic or comment on a visual artform like this. What the
well, yea.. I agreee.. but the thing is that _obviously_ alot of people, including the judges, have very different opinions on what each category means. If the skin authors should choose the categories, then they should be explained in detail what they mean, so there can be no misunderstandings at all.
how is it not as usable as the others? I really wanna know, because I have no idea what you're talking about, no offense..
you want some constructive criticism? You can start by recognizing the coders of the skins! Make it possible to be TWO authors of the same skin, without beeing just members in a team! So we've won like a t-shirt and a wa pro license now eh? But only one of each? How are we supposed to divide that in two equal piles? Coders get screwed over all the time, it's not fun anymore..
I coded D-Reliction
seeing the list of official Winamp event judges, I can tell you, none of them were involved in the creation of the skin-engine (Wasabi). Francis made Maki and parts of Wasabi, Brennan made most of Wasabi and Aus was involved aswell, however, Brennan and Aus don't work for Nullsoft anymore.. They are the three main people behind Wasabi and none of them are judges in theese events. Steve is a designer, he made the graphics for the Classic base skin and the Winamp3 base skin for example and I'm n
agree.. also, the skinners should _not_ have to decide categories themselves. All skins should be able to win in any category, they should not be limited to just two categories, especially if those two categories have to be chosen by the skin author him/herself. If a skin truly is the most creative skin, but hasn't entered that category, it should still win imo. So as I said, don't make the author choose category.
Well, as far as I know, none of the "nullsoft guys" involved in creating the skin engine are judging here.. Which means they don't neccesarily have the same knowledge as some of the veteran skinners have (I've been coding winamp3/5 skins since winamp3 was in alpha stage).
Frogboy, my interest isn't in the WB/Icons categories, it's in the most usable wa skin category..
how will you prevent cheating in that particular category?
it also pretty much guarantees new skins to win over older skins, due to the new skins beeing more popular at that particular time... No? well, then prove me wrong, thanks...
Thanks for telling us.. NOW.. Maybe the judges should've checked the comments on each skin aswell.. just a tip..
