Dankestkiwi and I just played an 8 hour game with a desync we didn't notice until the end. We both were capturing the same planets, and there were ships (enemy and ally) that I could see and he could not. The game also crashed about once an hour. Side note, taking F12 screenshots with steam causes the game to crash.
