I played a little bit today. It was intense at first but then it got really boring. Why did it get boring? Because for the next two hours, no one attacked me. This problem becomes especially acute when there are more than three factions involved. The game should constantly keep you on your toes.
The Vasari attacked me three times. I repelled the first attack with great effort. The Vasari flew back to where they came from. Then I quickly built a starbase and waited fully armed for the next invasion. The Vasari were also well prepared. This time they sent about 50 frigates and 3 capital ships. A scout preceded their visit. It's programmed in such a way that the AI can correctly assess its chances of winning, right? So, initially, everyone is on an equal footing. But for some reason, the AI decided to attack, regardless of my starbase. A well-developed starbase is very difficult to destroy with a fleet like that. The battle didn't last long. The starbase began methodically destroying the enemy frigates. The Vasari decided to retreat. But this time they pleasantly surprised me. They flew off in a different direction. The ships moved to my other planet. This planet was defenseless. I had to rush to build turrets and ships to repel their attack. The carrier Sova was a huge help. The third attack was the most powerful but this time I was well prepared. The Vasari have an undeniable advantage at the start of the game. They have exotics. In just twenty minutes, they can build three capital ships. They take advantage of this. I built a phase jump inhibitor. The enemy fleet's behavior this time saddened me. The Vasari were in a losing position. Either the AI had misjudged my capabilities, or it didn't yet have information about the phase jump inhibitor in the gravity well. What would I have done in this situation? I would have tried to destroy the phase jump inhibitor first, just to save my fleet. Unfortunately, the AI didn't think of this. A sad fate awaited its fleet.
The Phase Jump Inhibitor is the highest priority target when the chances of winning are close to zero. It will be a little more difficult for people but the AI will get smarter and the gameplay will become more realistic.
