It looks like you can't build a space station without techapods. It is also the most rare material in the universe. You'd think the engineers would have found a more plentiful material to build space stations with by now.
Agreed, they should be either more common, or available through the Scavenger path.
Why would I use a construction material I haven't found in my Solar System to build anything?
Agreed, agreed. My first few games, it was relatively easy to find, but clearly that was just dumb luck. It's too important to the game for it to be like this.
I agree. If it's meant to be a chokepoint on purpose it's working as designed. However this is a silly dynamic. I have plenty of all the other resources needed to build starbases, but I have to go begging other Civs to trade me Techapods because my planets only produce .3 per turn. Doesn't seem to add anything to making the game fun or immersive IMHO.
Find a minor civ and do an mission...after time you get a control pt and choice of 3...one is almost always techapods....if you need control pts...just keep clicking, unlimited pts...:-} dont tell anybody !!!!!
