How to customize AI difficulties?

"Hard" AI players are too weak for me and "unfair" ones too difficult. I'd like to change the resource bonis and whatever else AI players get to values in between the two difficulty settings. Got trouble finding any useful configuration files to do that. Any tips?

The numbers are not moddable, there is no line for that in any file as far as I know. Best thing you can do is  playing teams with varying difficulties, like 2 hard against you, you and an AI VS 3 AI's etc, but it is not a viable option for everyone (I never do it as well, instead try to beat unfair with starbases..)

Reverse engineer the game. Probably want to find a way to freeze the game's version/disable auto update while you're at it.
