Had a game today where it was my Orky at a gas giant where it was posted with intent to defend my AI ally who was getting ravaged by the combined force of two hard AI's. Yes, the Orky was fully upgraded but it still slayed probably thousands of ships over the course of the game, including plenty of Orgovs with minimal support from my Vasari Loyalist ally who occasionally sent in a few ships to help it.
When I first set up the Orky, I hadn't yet researched the deflector shield, so it was surviving with 2 damage, three hull, 2 debris vortex, and one fighter upgrade. Because of how immensely powerful Orkies are, they can actually take down spammed Orgovs quite easily if you use them right. The trick is to plow the Orky straight through the enemy fleet and into their Orgovs, allowing all 16 bank targets of the starbase to be unleashed as hordes of phase missiles pour out of it. Then, by simply using Debris Vortex, you can heal yourself from the debris of those you just destroyed. It requires micro, but it isn't hard to do.
I can only think of a couple times when an Orky had my full attention, was fully upgraded, and still fell to a swarm of Orgovs. If I don't micro it though, they'll take it down very quickly.
Their ship to ship combat is non-existent. Best counter is fighters. Basically any combat ship except flak is ok against them as well, they're really very squishy.
Um.. Orgovs have light armor, meaning that they get countered pretty directly by flak. Not as well as by Fighters mind you, but still quite well.
