Hey all.
I know how to open the user configuration file and the SaveGameFormat = 0 trick. I'm looking to optimize my galaxy at start-up by changing around a few planets, wormholes, and such. Instead of a crappy galaxy, I'd like to make galaxies much more specialized.
Here's a few things I'd like to know what and how to change.
1. How do I find, mod, and tweak wormholes? I can find the planet name and "Wormhole" a few pages above the planet name, but I'd like to know how I can change the wormhole links. Meaning if I decided to change the wormhole into a planet, then having ships pop up inside the planet from warping via wormhole lanes- I don't want that. I want to see if I can remove that wormhole link. Or have the wormholes link to different wormholes instead of their original wormhole lane connections.
2. Similiar idea with Phase Lanes. For example, I want to add 2 more Phase Lanes to my homeworld planet, or delete a Phase Lane to a planet that has 2, so that the planet will be a "dead end". Or change the phase lane that connects Planet A and B so that Planet A now connects to Planet C instead of Planet B. Stuff like that.
3. Finally, how do I modify the planet bonuses? Adding or removing stuff like "Porous Core" or "Penal Colony" or some such?
I'd like to create a cluster of nice colonizable worlds for me and the AI to fight over, move wormholes to the extreme edges of the solar system or remove them (why have wormholes when you can warp via stars in a multi-star game?), and change a few crappy starting locations to be better for the AI so they'll have a better economy and able to put up more of a fight.
Also, I had another question. I modified the pirates research so their upgrades are 1/4 of what their current crazy overpowered stats in Diplo games. Instead of 90 attack, they should have like 20 - 30 attack. My question is, what happens when I enable the mod. Does the mod only apply to new games I create from that point on, or will it effect any saved games that I load up that I started before I created the mod? Case in point:
I created the pirate mod yesterday. Can I apply that mod to a game I started 3 days ago so that pirates in that game would be nerfed according to the stats they'll have in the mod? Or will I have to start a completely new game with the mod enabled for the pirates to recieve the nerfs?
Sorry for all these questions, I want to make interesting games with more flexibility than Galaxy Forge. As far as I know, it can't mod saved games, and I've heard it can bug stuff up sometimes.
