This is not true to the Star Control spirit. Direct ship control is real, in-your-face, connection to the cold ste

[quote who="Hunam_" reply="49" id="3600181"] Controller is a must for the Melee. Endless Space has the best looking/cleanest UI (keyboard and mouse though) IMO. [quote who="IBNobody" reply="45" id="3600113"] Quoting satoru1, reply 44 I expressly avoided rediculous 'pc vs console' hyperbole and instead concentrated on real technical differences that make a difference to devs like how patching on Steam is free but costs $10-15k on consoles. That's a very very big shift in how you de
[quote who="IBNobody" reply="7" id="3599816"] I loved playing Melee / SuperMelee with friends. Back before the Internet, we had to play while sharing a keyboard. It was a great bonding experience. Fast forward to today... One of my co-workers is doing an Extra Life 24-hour game-a-thon for the Children's Miracle Network this Saturday. Because I was one of the first people to donate, I get to choose what he plays for an hour. I'm going to introduce him
[quote who="dogchainx" reply="26" id="3599451"] Many "ultra" fans will never be satisfied, regardless of the tricks of storylines/etc, unless Fred and Paul do another Star Control themselves. I've learned to get over it, and embrace what could be an awesome experience, all the while crossing my fingers that 1-Stardock doesn't screw up and 2-Fred and Paul stop making money and are forced to do something with Star Control to make ends meet. I mean, it'll just be me banging cymbals together and randomly hitting a drum with a drumstick thingy, because I know nothing about music, but that would be amazing!
Anyone get into the Founder's Program yet?
OktoberStorm, are you really going to get yourself banned over this, when there's a much better route to take? Why not be a constructive part of this group? Stardock doesn't want all just Yes-Men to help with Star Control, they need criticism as well - but not like this, man. Not like this. Your profile pic is the Yehat, FFS! You obviously love the game very much. There's just a much better way to show it. And Frogboy, no one else thinks that on here. Rest ass
Exactly, Rhonin!! Hahahah!
Uhh... the Precursors?!? In SC2, they gave TONS of aliens tech that boosted them! Same with the Melnorme! Can we all just stop nay-saying everything and move forward? So what if it doesn't match up with exactly how each individual wants the game's story to go. This is the reality of the situation, let's help where we can to get the best game made possible. I don't want to see this meaningful and spoileriffic thread derailed like the September Upd
This is it! This is IT! For the love of Our Lady of Guadalupe, this is ITTTTT!! Count me in. Filling out an application as soon as I get home form work and can do the computer diagnostic part!! THIS IS IT!!! 20+ years of waiting!
I don't understand the big deal about the lore thing. It's really tripping a lot of people upup, but I just don't understand. SO MANY GAMES do the same thing - new cast of characters each time. Call of Duty is new every year. Assassin's Creed is not only new chars, but new time period. Even TV shows do it - True Detective? American Horror Story? It's not like it's called The Urquan Wars, and Stardock is making a new Urquan Wars without the Urquan. That would be
Star Control II is a game packed with so many memories that have stuck with us for DECADES. That's how outstanding they were. I can't remember half the games I've played this YEAR, let alone 20 years ago... but Star Control II somehow managed to pack in memorable moments that just won't fade. When Kotaku (the big video game website) did a MASSIVE, crowdsourced list of The Best PC Games of All Time, they weren't planning on crowning any "winner". It should have been just a

[quote who="dogchainx" reply="10" id="3594056"] One thing I feel that the original SCII fell short, other than it ending...blah, was that the technology upgrades ceased after such a short while. The gameplay was simple enough that going up against other ships with your fully-loaded mothership, you never really needed upgrades beyond what was provided. However, the end of upgrading was a bit blah when you maxed your shi
I think this idea has potential - expanding the number of ways you could find to make upgrades to your ship... basically in SCII, the only way to get a new weapon or ship upgrade that could be produced , was to buy it from the Melnorme. Several new levels of blasters, new lander improvements, batteries, etc. - all came from the Melnorme. But expanding on that idea could be fruitful because that's fun, but shouldn't be the ONLY way. Maybe you find an old precursor relic th
You are insane. This is not helpful.
Hey Bum, I wasn't talking about the Marvel movies - have you read the comics? I'm referring to gems like Old Man Logan and Deadpool Kills the Marvel Universe, etc. Those are alternate timelines that split off from the main one. In Old Man Logan, almost all the superheroes are dead and Logan hasn't popped his claws in 15 years, Red Skull is the President of the remains of America and Hulk is the landlord of California with a host of inbred children made with his cousin, She-Hu
@BUM783 - You're right about the tiredness of an alternate reality. I'm not a fan of that. Did I miss it somewhere that they said they're settling on this idea? Splitting off into alternate realities, like Marvel or something? It's SPACE. It's neverending. There's no shortage of explanations we could come up with. One idea I had was that there was calm before and after the Urquan war... Sol is at almost the very left side of the map. And space never ends... so
This is a good point - it's the TYPE OF GAME that's so special and uniquely Star Control. It's the feeling you get - not the specifics of who you encounter or where. Truly, honestly, it's the SPIRIT that will live on, even if the Spathi don't. Although, it's funny... the latest GalCiv DLC is showed in a banner atop this very page, lol... The SNATHI. That might be too cheap to include in a Star Control game ;) Also... why does everyone always mention the
