Are you using any mods? The mods could be affecting the tech tree. Ships leave guard mode when enemy ships come in their sensor range. Were all the orbit slots filled? Do the save games reproduce the crash for the second corvettes event?

I think that the only way to change an emperor is to delete all the overlords except the one you want to be emperor, then remove yourself as Emperor.

Ummm, it might be confused by the fact that you have a Total Gaming.Net Serial. It's best to just use that anyway so that Gal Civ doesn't get confused when trying to submit scores to the metaverse.

On the candidate info screen, the top line of an issue slider is the national value and the bottom line is the state value. The arrow points approximately where the two values resolve. It could use a bit of tweaking for the display to look a bit better, but it gives you an approximate idea of how things are going.

CgrossCP, You should check to see if you have the latest drivers for your video card. If Political Machine is running in software mode, sometimes upgrading drivers will allow it to run in hardware mode, which is faster.

Those of you who have not tried the update linked to in the thread Latest internal Stardock update, please try that link and let me know if it changes anything. If you are getting corrupted graphics on the main screen, you may need to uninstall and re-install your drivers, particularly if you just installed new drivers over the old ones when you updated. I am making progress in tracking down the no fonts error. leonhart6

This is an update for those of you who haven't e-mailed me but still have no fonts. We were able to find a video card that reproduces this problem on one of our machines here. I added some extra debug information to the font code and ran the new exe on that machine, and it didn't report any problems loading the fonts or displaying strings. Does the peanut gallery include me? :) You are right, it is much better to install Windows on a clean hard drive. The best way is to use SDC to archive all your files (Files->Archive) and then burn the backup folder with the zip files in it to a CD, or transfer them to another hard drive, or whatever.
