City spam is just a game strategy technique. It's no different from using "killer stack," "teleportation," "blitzkrieg," "imbuing multiple heroes vs imbuing few or none," or going for spell-of-making vs conquest, etc. It's just unbelievable to me that players are trying to negate a valid game strategy? If you don't like this particular strategy, use another. Any strategy that is unbeatable against the AI is g

Other request: Have a wandering troop of 300 mans that randomly crush your city with this message: FOR SPARTA. Then, hear a little voice saying: heum, we're not at the rigth place. Then, the barbarian blushed and say: Oops, sorry! and leave. Add a new trait: Redneck. This trait (faction trait) allow you to marry your daugther/son/sister/brother and have a dynasty within your dynasty. Add a new civic victory(empire): Divide by zero: Your scie
Ive been thinking of requiring food to construct an outpost. Thoughts?
Well, my opinion is you should check WHY people city spam. I'm not sure myself because I only play at normal difficulty rigth now and on large map I only have about 10 city by the 600 th turn(don't know if it's city spam but it's not close to 50 that I red on other thread). So, first know why people city spam and then think about something to compe

Well, in fact the land should revive itself with magic. It should be logical that, if your sovereign and your faction tech level are high, it should be easier to find ressource (food, metal, ore, crystal) like in MOO: the first tech you got is exploiting ressource on planet, after you terraform and after you "deep mine" the planet. I think you should be able to do something like that with your land. Add some powerful magic (lvl9-10) with the masterspell book (require some research of course)
I'm also in the category of not playing now until 1.1 is released. My greatest concern is that 1.1 will be another band-aid solution instead of a real balanced update to what should be a great game. It seems that many of the updates have been put out due to time pressure rather than quality control and I hope that Stardock takes the time needed to get this right. I would much prefer to wait another few months to get a balanced, playable g

Well, I didn't know that a CEO worked 103/hours a week. I hope you enjoy your work :). By the way, I bought the game yesterday, play 3-4 hours and didn't see the time passing... when the game crashed. I restart a new game and it didn't crash (cross finger). And for the "flop", like someone said: 80k copy for around 50 buck = 4 M$ in my book, less expense and other stuff,I wouldn't call it a total flop :P.Great work by the way and I can't wait for the improvment.

So if I understand correctly (I'll buy the game tommorow so pardon my ignorance) if you have a squad/compagny of soldier with plate/shield and lord hammer it should'nt be too powerfull to have only ranged attack?
Now, initially having only one race with pre-made units might be a bit weird, but if you were to play with several custom races, that all bring in their own units - that's flavor. Of course they would all have to be balanced around each other ... that's where it becomes difficult.
Yep, I was reading your idea but I read all over the forum that Archer unit are too strong because then can hit long range with no penalty

Well, you see, you have the Japanese mentality: Customer first, after employee and after profit :). The entreprise should always put customers and employee before profit. The reason is, when you do that, you make a quality product and the people will want to buy it, so the profit will come in the long run. I'm really glad that you think that way. By the way, I almost buy everything over Impulse because of it's DRM free policy and the "No CD" that come with Impulse. I know that other "download
it's pretty clear that some big city will perform better in the long run than a lot of smaller city Oh really? Question: which is better - lvl5 city with no resource nodes or 5 lvl1 cities with resource node each? Answer: 5 lvl1 cities. Because population itself (and city level) mean nothing. They do not produce anything. They do not even speed up troop building. Brad's concept is much better because it give

Well, I would propose the same way as another one said in this topic: Give the prestige an Empire wide effect to attract X/Turn pop to your empire and then divide the population by the number of town you have. Also, to encourage big city, just make prestige more important by level. Ex: Lvl1 city = Give 1 prestige to the pool. Lvl2 city= Give 4. Lvl3 city= Give 9 etc. This way, a lvl5 city will compensate for 25 lvl 1 city AND they will get 25 pop in 1 city insteed of 1 for 25 city. With the b

That one paragraph got me psyched as all hell for this game. Now obviously there wasn't much information in that paragraph, just enough to let my imagination go wild. The main draw for me that the paragraph talked about was manipulating the world and your troops with your extraordinary magic in a strategy game

Well, for me overpowered means that it something extremly powerful can only be achieve by someone and not all the player. For example: if only I can build a super strong army of 500 mans with magical item/armor/sword and nobody can: it's overpowered. BUT, if everybody as a similar option, it's not overpowered. It all boil down on how you play your game. Like xStarfirex said: if it has no viable counter it's overpowered. Now, I'm not saying that you shouldn't have some kind of advantage if you
