If they handle it like Entrenchment, the beta will be available whenever (1) you preorder Diplomacy or (2) when the beta first becomes available. Obviously, it'd be whichever came second. Basically, you should not have to preorder by a specific date to have access to the beta. As a side note: you may have to change a setting in Impulse to allow you to see beta releases, but there will likely be half a dozen threads on the matter. <span style="color:
9: ? how do you bind a starbase to a planet? I am thinking with an Orkulus you can make it "go" there and then lock it for local area only, but otherwise I am a bit perplexed.
Each Starbase has an upgrade that makes it so the planet cannot be lost so long as the Starbase is alive. For the Vasari, I think it's called "Enforced Loyalty." I'm fairly certain that's what Amish means.

I'd try rebooting Impulse. If that doesn't work, reboot the PC. If THAT doesn't work, listen to Kitkun and contact . I'd be surprised if you get that far, but they're usually really good about helping.
I'm gonna second the Stardock guys and say just get one big screen. 2 screens are great for work, but I have two at home as well and only find myself using the one there. Just buy one that's big and wide-screen, and you should be very happy.
If I get any broadcast centers early in the game, I tend to put them in a central location within my empire. There, they do more to improve the allegiance (and credit/mineral production). Later in the game, I shift to putting them at the edges of my empire. They will protect from enemy culture (and culture bonuses), and I can use them to push my culture out - lowering the enemie's allegiance. Of course, usually I tend to play Economy early and Attack later,
Will pre-ordering get us in the beta as well? Playing the beta would be a nice boost to my level of Sins excitement.
I'd rather get mass effect via impulse than steam. I haven't bothered because of (a) securom and ( steam is a piece of crap.
True, and I don't like Steam that much, either. However, I don't think Mass Effect has the dreaded SecuROM on it when distributed through Steam (just the normal Steam DRM). Considering my last experience with SecuROM, I'm much more likely to buy Mass Effect through Steam right now, unless Impulse
The last EA game I installed on my computer was the Spore Creature Creator (before Spore came out). It completely f*ed up my computer. I'm not going to boycot Stardock for putting EA on Impulse, but I definitely will not be buying an EA game again until they get rid of SecuROM. DRM is acceptable as long as it doesn't affect me, but I won't put up with it if I have to reformat my hard drive just to get the internet to work again.
Last I heard SD talk about the limit, it's something like 50 to 100 times within an hour.
That is WAY too restrictive!!! I have, like 40,000 machines sitting around here, and I was hoping to install Sins on all of them in half a work day (I move fast). Stardock should increase the limit to at least 10,000 an hour, or I'll never buy any of their games again!!!1!111 On a serious note: let us know if you're still having troubles. Though I'd bet
As said above, email or They're pretty good about response times, and they seem to get you playing as soon as they reasonably can.
That's awesome, and I'll definately look forward to the assessment of it. I hope they announce when it'll be released, as well. Please, please tell us when we can give you more money. [e digicons]:D[/e]
How has no one mentioned Voltron : Defender of the Universe ? As a side note: the Wikipedia article claims that a live action Voltron movie is in the works. [e digicons][/e]

Yeah, they might not decompose, but I don't think they have an internal heast source once they die/revive. They'd probably be slow enough that you could just walk around them on your way to the store.
Email your question to Your OP seems specific enough that I'm guessing they'll know exactly what the problem was. Even if not, they're pretty good about helping you fix things. I'd expect at least a day turn-around time, since they'll be catching up with weekend emails today.
If you're still having problems, you can try emailing They'll probably also suggest you register it, but they might be able to give you some extra info, if you need it. BTW, Impulse can be found here: ImpulseDriven
What I mean is could you put some mines, in a stars gravity well, or the uncolonizeable asteroid fields?
It depends on the race you're using. Advent and Vasari can put mines in any available gravity well (using their strike craft or mine laying frigate, respectively). TEC can only use the constructor craft to build mines, so they're limited to making mines in the gravity wells of planets they own.
What

If you have Spore, you should reformat your HDD first. I would have had no issues whatsoever, if I didn't have the Spore Creature Creator on my machine. Unfortunately, SP3 tried to update a portion of the registry that was locked by . It caused the SP3 update to fail, and XP went into a slow death spiral. I hadn't intended this as an anti-DRM post, but I guess it ended up that way. The point was be careful if you have Spor
It would also be very nice if there was a cue when your starbase is under attack. It's not a problem if they're on your planet because you get the other alert; however, if it's in a neutral, it can be destroyed (or nearly so) before you realize it was under attack. Of course, I agree with Astax as well. Also, the general idea of the OP is good. The proposed idea might a little much, but some level of tiered warnings would be spectacular. <span style="color:
I've actually had the pleasure of seeing what Ruthlessness used as a *defense* will do; just last night, in a late-game TEC assault against my well-prepared Advent "Fly in Amber" defenses, because I had researched Ruthlessness, despite relying entirely on the in-system defenses, an extremely large TEC fleet (one battleship, two battlecruisers, a captial carrier, over a dozen pocket-carrier cruisers, and sundry missile and planetary-assault frigates), got ground to a powder in less than
Removing the ability to scout (other than the advent's cap ability, and culture-spies) would make the game pretty different. Kinda sounds fun, though.
