Just wanted to say thank you for giving us access to this patch. It's obvious that a lot of work went into it. Even more than that, letting us play with it before an official version rolls out is just fantastic. I can't say enough good things about the "Stardock Crew" and I know that negative comments, even well meaning help/improvement comments, are mostly what you folks get in return for the hard work you do for all of us. I hope this lets you know that a lot of us are havi

This happens when ships/fleets are set to auto-attack, and then they perform an action (like an attack) and (for an as yet unknown reason) they stop and wait for user input instead of continuing automatically. As an example, let's imagine that a ship begins it's turn in auto-attack mode and starts by moving a bit and then attacking an enemy ship in planetary orbit. The attack is successful, but now the ship needs to either attack the next ship or move towards another target...and this
I have done a few minor mods to the tech trees, and in my experience, you have to start a 'new' game to see the changes you have made. If you start a game from any type of 'save' game the tech tree changes will NOT show in the game. Hope this helps.
I'd give you a standing ovation, but no one would see it :) I have to give you credit for stating your beliefs and not apologizing for them. I also like the fact that you realize some customers need to be shown the door. I have been in some form of customer service for most of my adult life, and frankly, some 'customers' shouldn't be allowed to interact with other human beings (I'm exaggerating a bit). For example those 'Customers' whose cable goes out for literally two minute
Yes, I have noticed this with ships/fleets using autoattack. I have been using a workaround in which I press the spacebar when the ship stops and this lets it move to it's next action. I know it's not a solution, but it keeps the ships auto-status intact and lets me continue with the game. I just replied to a poster who said his, 'turn button was not reappearing' and I suspect that this issue was causing his problem as well. The game just stops during the computer's side of the turn a
Oh, I also forgot: The 'alt-tab' crash is a known issue. Either run the game in window mode and set it to your desktop resolution (that way it looks full screen and doesn't have those nasty windows borders) in order to alt-tab safely; or don't alt-tab :) Hope this helps.
If your turn button is not showing back up, you might check to see if you have any ships on 'auto-attack.' I've noticed that when I do, once the ship has made one attack, I have to hit the spacebar in order to get the ship to go to it's next action. This means, I sometimes have to use the spacebar frequently if I have several ships or fleets on 'auto-attack.' There may be other issues at work as well, but when in doubt I hit the spacebar and things start back up again. Hope this helps.
Once the population exceeds 19 to 20 you are going to experience severe morale issues as you described. The solution is to make sure that your farm/food resources don't exceed the morale limit...so normally one tile dedicated to a farm will be enough as you upgrade it throughout the game. On average planets most people opt for a population limit of about 13 and on larger planets 19 is about right. If you have lots of morale improvements available, you might get to 21 or 22. Also note,
Yes :) Seriously though, the influence rating of the starbase is created by adding modules which 'project' cultural influence to planets within the range of the starbase. This, in turn, causes any planets within range to begin to accept the projected culture. If you have sufficient espionage to see the ratings of other races' planets, you will begin to see the number corresponding to a possible revolt begin to rise. (I forget the actual label for the number). Once that number goes ove
I have now updated the BIOS, it specifically starts the fan at lower temperatures, so that might have caused the last crash. Anyway, I went back to the game and it is doing good so far. Thanks again for the help.
Update: Well, I was using the new drivers (as noted above) and was doing well, got further than I have before when a new issue crops up. The screen just got faint white lines throughout and then the system froze, and then I got the infamous "stopped responding, but recovered" error. I am pasting in the debug.err file below. Instead of the buffer flip error, last line is showing that the last item was "updating ZOC." ++++++++++++++ Debug Message: Version v1.80g Dark Av
I tried the 174.32 beta drivers, as you suggested, and so far - so good. Thanks for the tip. Can't wait to actually finish a game :) I've been a gamer since the early days, and things were supposed to be easier by now. Windows Vista was supposed to make PC gaming much more simple...in fact it was supposed to make it alot like console gaming insofar as getting rid of installation hassles and such. So far, it hasn't worked out that way. From the days of editing autoexec.bat, th
I continue to have the crashes as well; I am using an HP dv6815nr laptop with 3GB main system RAM and nVidia GeForce 7150M/630 GPU with 128MB allocated in BIOS and share in system memory. I have updated the video drivers, or attempted to. HP has not updated the drivers from those that shipped with the laptop (dated Nov-2007) and the nVidia drivers I got from laptopvideo2go did not fix the problem either. I am posting my debugg.err file in the hopes that someone has some insight for me. <b
