yeah I only have so much money to work with, the idea is to be expandable and keep smoking for a few years. I'll get vista in a couple of months but I figure building the hardware so I can upgrade over the next 4-5 years as needed and stay decent is better than rebuying from scratch every 2 years. Between overclocking options, adding ram and maybe dual vid in the future, it should be easily done....but only when needed and the prices come down. The system including a good ga

I just put an order in today for a i7 920, with the gigabite ud5 m/b, evga gtx 280 superclocked and 3x2gb tri-channel RAM.......my days of sins lagging are over soon, this game at max wont blink. The next step will be to dual boot with vista 64bit as yes it's good stuff (and my xp 32bit can only use 4 gb of ram anyway)...but as good as 64 bit is, I'll wait for ram to drop as there are 6 slots so I'll just add to the existing 6gb. Final step will to be add a 2nd gtx 280 as sli but
Okay, the easiest way to ask is with an example.....say I have 4 planets named A,B,C and D which are connected in a diamond (but not from A to D): A=factory B=pirates C=empty D=destination My frigate factories are on A, B is
Thanks guys! It's a whole lot better to wait an extra day and have everyone download quickly than to have everyone struggling to get the files on time. Yeah, it should have been ready for today but kudos for making the hard call to anger a few impatient people instead of angering everyone because it takes forever. It's the right move to do things right. I too am looking forward to the entrenchment beta......bring it on!
Those are great tweaks. I wouldn't worry about most of the complaints because the majority are based on not paying enough attention to realize you can disable impulse from running until you need it. It's a nice downloader, perhaps the easiest fix is just educating people as to their options as it's obvious finding answers on their own is too challenging for many. Honestly, it's more of a user issue than a developer issue.
Man, all I play are rts and the odd sports game....I wish stardock did both because it's the only gaming company that does things right. EA needs to be squashed, they couldn't care less about quality or customer service.
Movies: Highlander 3 and Blade 3...they were were blasphemous after the originals. Game: Empire Earth 3 ..... Apparantly they thought that people globally lost 1/2 their I.Q. points since 1 and 2
Yeah I couldn't read it at all, I had to highlight the text to see it. Also the yellow on white text here is just as bad (karma and replies count)
I'm confused. I am logged in with the same account I used to buy sins. I downloaded fresh, and the "show pre-release versions" option is greyed out. I have confirmed it is registered........how am I supposed to get access to this? I read through this thread and have not seen anyone with the same issue.......I can't find anywhere where this exists in Impulse.
I think most importantly, multiplayer needs to be done differently......It's absolutely ridiculous for this type of game that killing the host ends the game. I am hoping alloy allowing everyone to host will lead to successful migration but as its never worked that might be a tall order........for instance I host all the time but it never migrates to me if someone else is hosting and they quit. This should be #1 priority!

I just hope to god that the new multiplayer system will prevent players from "quitting" instead of surrendering when they are losing. It's SO unsatisfying to not get a win after hours of play. Honestly, if someone has played for more than 20 or 30 minutes and they want to quit there is no reason why they shouldn't forfeit. I realize some would cheat to pad their stats but who cares (and a time minimum would make this a LONG process). Those who do play to win should at least
I love how when someone has a problem they declare the game "broken" or "unbalanced" like their perspective = fact for everyone. The game is great, there are minor problems but they are being addressed, overall it deserves all the high ratings it gets.
There is no ranking system right now....with player drops etc it really doesn't matter as it doesn't really reflect success/failure. Maybe when the new online system takes effect there would be a point but you'd have to be slightly retarded to care that much about your wins under the current system
Oh and by the way, thanks for the response Kryo. Much appreciated.
Hmmmm, if thats the case, it really doesn't allow for any sort of teamwork with the AI in comparison to a real player. Perhaps if more control was given, multiplayer games wouldn't be ruined by player drops. The AI would be capable of strategic strikes/defence in conjunction with teammates in a manner that would actually be helpful. As it stands now, the AI is always playing a FFA game and doesn't work with others well at all.
My question is quite simple. When an allied player drops and you have the AI to work with, why is it when you try and send part of its fleet (from 1 planet) to attack or defend somewhere......it sends the ENTIRE fleet from around the map? Is there a way to avoid this? For example: On a large map, the AI has many planets and a few small fleets, 1 close to the target and others far away. I only instruct the fleet close to the target to attack. It reacts by preparing to jump but wont ac
Family guy has some funny moments but most of it is extremely immature random thoughts with no purpose. The writing of the Simpsons is still solid as it always has been. Not every moment is funny but you are bound to smile through every episode and laugh a few times as well (which is as good as any other show on TV). It may be stale to some but it's also comfortable and familiar as it mocks the things in life we all resent. Long live the Simpsons!
I love players like you. Yes please continue to overdo Cap ships and neglect building a proper fleet. I don't think I've ever seen it work against a decent player but if it works for you then everyone is happy ;)
This is silly but also, when noobs get crushed a few times, if they are smart they will learn from it and improve. I know I have learned the most about this game from being beaten to a pulp, paying attention, thinking about it then changing my tactics. I'm sure it will happen again too. Sticking with overpowered teams doesn't sound like fun though, some competition between friends can be exciting too!
Honestly, I think a lot of the regular player change their names from time to time for whatever reason......thereby resetting their stats to zero. The bottom line is that in this game, the online score means absolutely nothing....it is not descriptive of a players ability at all: -You get free wins from people quitting. -Winning a 1 on 1 is not the same as winning a 10 person FFA. -Tonnes of people get beaten and hit "quit" instead of surrender to avoid a loss. <
Seriously, quit making huge proclamations based on your own play ability. Advent is not overpowered at all in fact, it depends on how you play and how your opponent plays. I have played multiple games as and against advent and you are complaining before taking the time to to learn the games and question your own play style. Find me, take advent and I will kick your butt with TEC ;)
ooohhh someone should do a mod...the races could be: 1) Chinese: the power of communism - industry bonuses and cheap units 2) Tibetans: the power of buddhism - reincarnation and passive resistance tactics 3) Americans: the power accusation - can pull in Nato forces as backup when strategies get out of hand (or are completely wrong) There's so much that can be done with this!
I have to agree with Rickder....that whole "4th game this year" scenario isn't even slightly believable. It's a small problem, either find the code or deal with the retailer.....what do you expect from the forums? And stardock is sooo good that they are even willing to help lol
I just played a multi system game, I kicked one opponnent out of a system and took it all over. It was quite large. I figured with so many planets I would be uber rich but even after buidling many trade ports and broadcast centers....it really wasnt great at all. I also teched culture increases almost to the end but planets a few jumps away from my home planet never went above 35% allegiance. When players lose planets to culture...how is it I couldn't even m
