I think the idea of superior hybrid technology would be mind boggling and awesome , tho would be hard to implement. Imagine , if hybrid technology was superior to any non-hybrid technology. So if you are Human , and you conducted a research salvage on Advent ships you gain access to secret research options which is hybrid of advent and human technology forexample - Phase Missles Missles are standard TEC technology , combined with the standard phase technology

Sots 3d starmap was in turned based . Which meant you had more time to negotiate and orientate yourself to the confusing 3d map. But soase is like homeworld 2 -> real time. In Homeworld 2 , the best and most popular official maps were the flat ones like Sarum Dust clouds and Crimson Bond. The most 3d type map is imposed cosmos. This map was pathetic , tedious and annoying and people rarely played it. Most of the time, id be tied up trying get the camera to a good angle

Shadow , can you please post a savegame on mediafire or rapidshare , so that other people can test your problems. Imo , I think shadows PC is just fine. It is alot better then my rig.. My Specs (laptop) are Intel Celeron 420 M 1.6ghz - 1Mb Cache 1024 Mb DDR2 Ram Radeon X200 Xpress with shared 128mb. [ 2 pipeline ] 3dmark03 score = 1450 so I should try it and see if performance is just as bad.

I think we dont call it micro , I call it expert meanuvres. I think there are enough expert meanuvres to be done in the "macro game" and more to be discovered when we get multiplayer and it will satisfy the hardcore fans. Forexample a neat tactical meanuvre for me, is to send light carriers 20 seconds ahead of my main fleet. Once the carriers enter the fray , they send out their fighters to neutralise the bombers. 20 seconds later my fleet arrives and hopefully the bombers will have bee

I like it. One thing I dont like about RTS in general is that when you are losing slightly in a game and things start to pile up on you , you start to fall down a steep slippery slope to unavoidable loss. The key word being unavoidable . In Sins , If player A conquers and colonises player Bs planets , then Player A gets... - increased pop - increased resource Player B gets... - decreased pop - decreased resource This imo is a slipp

I believe there is something amissed in Research and I pinpoint it as - you dont feel like your competing in a technological race with other players. One thing I know about 4x games especially ones like Civ or Sots is that researching technologies feels like a race. You really feel it if people have tech you dont , and you feel happy when you are one of the leading technological powers even if your army isnt that great. Theres also a feeling of being clever by going down research p

Hmm, perhaps just add a modifier key to hold and click on the resource count/income indicators? Sounds like a plan... a good one in fact. Shift or CTRL while clicking on resource indicators can buy/sell respectivly. or you could just assign 4 keyboard keys to buy metal , buy crystal , sell crystal , sell metal..and you can access them anywhere.

This game would be pretty awesome with Galactic War so Sins has Custom Games , Ladder Games and Galactic War Games. Shot at 2007-07-13 For those who dont know what it is , let me explain. Firstly registering for Galactic War , A player is asked to pick a race to become. He must choose wisely as his GWar rank sticks to this race and he can only play as that race , and if h

I think a planet should go through a phase of neutrality if they are about to flip cultures. This way a player can get his own culture counter up to stop the flip. The bigger the culture difference the faster the flip from neutrality to the player If there is a hugh equal culture war , a planet may remain neutral for longer. Neutrality means the planets resources go to waste.

Light frigates and their movement. Imo , there are two schools of thought as to how "small" frigates should move... Type 1 There is the lumbering way ala freespace/starwars , where a ship relies on turrets for firing arcs and moves in a single direction without turning much Type 2 Theres fast and mobile with good meanuvrablity ala startrek. Where guns dont need to be on turrets beca

Back to Caps should have aa. I dont think they should have antifighter weapons. I dont think bombers should be any more lethal then they already are. I think it is ok as it is. If bombers are more lethal , to compensate for the aa on capships , then whatabout light frigate vs light carrier(with bomber) , or bombers vs kodiaks. all units without aa will be crap

If beta 3 is multiplayer , some of these issues and im being most pragmatic and frank about it might come up. disclaimer: not my opinion but prediction of opinions. Nerfing , burffing and overpowerment Some things will be deemed too micro-intensive because they win you the game more so then proper RTS things Ways to win that arent really in the spirit of Sins. - cheap tactics that become usual things to do if you want to win Pirates should be completely nerf..
