Each world will contain thousands of provinces to conquer, and thus hundreds of players in each world. So far the only interaction really spoken of between players is war. But war is really something that might not at all be a casual situation. With hundreds of players all fighting for survival it will be essential and so very much needed to form alliances and treaties of mutual protection with other players to ensure your own survival. In most strategy games which go deeper than say,

Players can only attack other players who are between 75% - 125% of their networth/size/whatever Yes, And thus put a permanent limit on the players to conquer the world? that is what the game is about. Also consider that weaker thus invulnerable to you nations will serve as a blockade to conquering the larger nations which you can fight beyond them. Players might find themselves "incased" by new players. SD was speaking of penalizing, that's what I'm trying to fight here.
So there already was a post with complaints over the penalty system SD came up with. However has anyone thought of the opposite of those penalties yet? The opposite is a reward. And while we should not reward players who play longer, we may give a little "reward" to those who play less. And not penalise the players who play alot. MMO games will always have players with way to much time on their hands who'll play the game for very long periods and will be able to accomplish more. But
We want Direct Debit!!! Most of us europeans do not wish and cannot pay with credit cards. And just a game expansion is not convincing enough to go through the trouble of getting a CC in europe. Please.. we beg you! find some way we can simply pay through our bank accounts.
You should not at all penalize players who are playing to long. Knowing myself I always get deeply addicted to MMO games very quick and spend alot of time with them. Most likely I will be paying for that game monthly and I dont want that paid time to be penalized just because I am using the product. Better solutions would be bonuses for players that are offline a lot. Something like "resting" time in WoW. If you are offline you gather "resting" time which when you log in gives you a
I really can't wait for this game! Especcially knowing Stardock supplies us with high quality products!. I really hope you'll find all the persons you need to build this games. Good luck and keep up the great work!
I wish I could vote to kill the Terran alliance... Not that I hate the humans.. I just hate the look of their racial leader, Face like a salesperson who'd do anything to sell you their product and exploit you in any way they can.
Concluding from the poll(s) we can see alot of us will buy expansion packs and/or packs with extra jewelry or whatever they might come up with. Stardock has stated before these will not be availeble in retail outlets. So we'll have to purchase them online. I've looked up before at buying things online from stardock. And no other payment option seemed availeble besides credit cards. Now alot of us don't have credit cards. So there should be imo other ways of payment. Somethin
I am just curious.. How long does it averagely take before submitted mods are accepted? Because a few of the things I submitted have been "Pending Aproval" for long over a month.
After updating to the 1.1 version of the game I have had trouble everytime the game tries to save. The game freezes and I am sometimes not able to even return to my desktop and have to reboot the pc entirely. I play on "huge" galaxy size with 6 other players. I didnt have this problem before. If needed, I'll post the debug.err file, but where do I find that? Thanks in advance.

Honestly, xml is easy. Heres an example of how to make the Terrans even better at diplomacy. c/program files/stardock/totalgaming/galciv2/data.english/raceconfig.xml Ok, first you look down the Terrans bonus list. All the stuff on the race is shown here, and all the numbers can be modded without any problems
ou know, this sort of post really sucks the enjoyment out of doing free updates. Last time I checked, the game -- the 1.0 version of the game -- had just won countless editor's choice awards. Yet you're treating us like we've given you an unfinished product simply because we're doing free updates. A better
In reply to stanley: Personally I agree, but you should not, I say, NOT overdo it. On each planet, you will be building improvements as you settle it. And each of these improvements cost money per turn for building it. I have many times easily ended up with over 400BC of social expenses and was not able to maximize my production like this. So either one should, decrease Social Production in the domestic tab. Don't build anything
don't personally believe an AI should limit itself by not raising its taxes when the situation warrants it though... I don't know how big of a problem this is, however, or how AI difficulty affects that issue -- which I believe it does/should. The problem is that, take an AI race which has the
That the computer players are not actually players. This I dont mean in such way that the devs shouldnt aim for a great AI. I mean it in a way that the Computer players resemble Alien Empirers, and not computer chess players aiming to win. Alot of people are continuily noting the Devs that the AI could play better in this way, and in that way. For instance, the AI is not raising it's taxes while it could. So it should be made so that they would raise
Screenshots of the game may be used freely on the internet. If this game is not commercial and does not make you any money, You'll be fine I think. Though I would email/wait for stardock response first to be sure though
Erhm.. Did I just see about 2500 military, and 9000 tech and social points?.... Is it just me or is that really really high?
I have to agree with alot of things said here. A while ago I finished a game in less than 8 years on normal with tech victory. Which is fast and was for me quite difficult to do. I recieved roughly 10.000 points for that one. I also did a game on simple, again a tech victory though this time I took waaaay longer then 8 years and recieved 25.000 points. Ofcourse I understand this is because my civilization was more developed. But the others w
I had this once when playing on Gigantic size, and the game described my civilization as "demonic" (which must be very evil, I think). Alot of my planets turned over to the fundamentalists. It happens to the really evil civs only. So, your good side saved you
Or they simply haven't found out about you yet.. Indeed, and besides, alot of writers started writing fan-fiction, and learned how to make a good story. It's possible to be born a good writer, but I doubt that most of the known writers were "born to be" writers. It's more something you learn in many m
You can upgrade units in StarCraft too. But StarCraft had heroes and the units talk to you during critical parts of the mission. "We're in real trouble here Sarge." "I don't think we're going to make it darlin'." Heroes make all the difference. Then... Go play an RTS where everything is scripted. Gal
wouldnt be smart, as you can't trade if you aren't in the UP
The original poster should understand that the world just ain't fair. Though I do agree that sometimes the situations are far to extreme. I tend to play with very few star systems en few planets. Because I find that you will have to rely on tactics and strategy more because you can't overpower with alot of planets. But then it is annoying when all Civs start close to each other with no planets at all and two or three start in lonely corners with most of all the plane
