In the game, can you create wormholes/suns like the tech advances say?

nope- it would be a great thing to add though, akin to stargates, especially since otherwise it seems the relevant technologies are basically there to hold off until beyond human...

The artificial sattelite, planet, star, galaxy and wormhole techs are essentially just to make tech victory take longer and to mock the player who wants to make those things ;)

If you want something approximating artificial wormholes, just build a ton of speed-enhancing star bases in one sector (preferably the one with your main trade route planet) and use it as a catapult.

Maybe One or two others along specific "star lanes"... :d

BTW, this is an example of why GalCiv is so great. It allows you to be creative and "invent" ways to use the game mechanics that are not always obvious. Some people might call this cheese, and in some cases it is, but personally I think it's fun.

Not at present. According to the Devs there are hooks in the game for some of the things but some, like wormholes or stargates would require quite a bit of work to allow the AI to use them effectively.
