The metaverse is the closest GalCiv comes to having a multi-player arrangement. The multiverse is basically a place to submit your game scores and be ranked relative to everyone else who submits scores. You can also join an empire, and have your score aggregated with all the other members, and that total is compared to other empire totals.

Most of the stuff in the Library you just download, unzip, and place the files into the GalCiv\Data subdirectory or the GalCiv\GFX subdirectory. Then when the time comes, the item in question will be available (for a ship or a tech) or possible (for an event or an anomaly).

2)The Metaverse has been co-opted and should be called the Maso-Verse. The original idea was to use the highest scores and make the game better, not to provide a multiplayer game. The developers gave in and made the Metaverse a scoring contest.


3)I have used the library in the past. I have not used any mods in along time but up until ver 1.12 GC you downloaded the file. Each file is compressed after you unziped or use WinRAR their is usually a readme that describes how to use the Mod.

I do not know how GC 1.12 has been modified to for the library mods.

There are mods that give new ships, events and technologies.

for version 1.12 you unzip items to the same folders as before but in the mods section of the game folder. so what would have been "galciv/data" now becomes "galciv/mods/data"
