So if I apply those files in the library, will it erase the original stuff like events etc etc created by stardock?

You may want to wait until 1.12 comes out.  I've added code that will create a Mods folder with appropriate subdirectories, so that you don't have to put the mods folder in the data directory. I also added an option to enable mods, so that you can play a game without loading the mods.

If stardock didn't approve of the mods they wouldn't post them in the library. From my understanding when I submit one someone will review it and if its fair then they will add it to the library.

I have played with most mods because it adds a little something(randomness)so you don't keep seeing the same anomalies, events all the time. The developers have done a great job with this game but sometimes when many eyes view something we all see it from our own perspective and might have done something alittle different.By adding mods you can kinda make the game more to your own tastes.
I have played with and without mods.Just be careful that the mods you add don't unbalance the game to far one way or the other.
There have been plenty of posts in the past about anomalous scores(score shows 0).I have also seen unmodded games get these as well.It is often more the way you play that I believe causes this problem until the last patch. Now it seems that the code flags something illegal but noone is quite sure what it is.I think Carielf has found this problem and hopefully has it rectified.
Just enjoy the game as it was meant to be.
The question is to mod or not to mod. Some like it one way and others the other.Download and try them and if you don't like them just remove them.
