Centering text in photoshop?

I've always used paint shop but recently got a copy of photoshop and was just wondering about text alignment. In paint shop you just create text and click on objects and align text in center of object, horizontal or vertical. Can you and how would you go about it in photoshop?

When you paste something it centers it to the part of the image showing...

When you paste something in photoshop it automatically centers it vertically and horizontally.

And if you need to centre an existing object, simply select the whole document (CTRL+A) then switch to the move tool (V) and then on the toolbar at the top, you'll see a bank of 6 alignment buttons, arranged as 2 groups of 3. The centre button in each group is align horz, and align vert.
This also works with aligning to other object. If you have a circle shape in the top corner and you want your text centred over just that, select it by CTRL+Click on it's layer in the layer pallete, which loads it's selection, then do as before using the move tool.
