Hello I would like to give my feedback on the recent update to the game.
I know this has been mentioned several times but I agree that the missiles which has seen a substantial buff, is sooo strong. Both TEC Javalis and the Vasari Kanrak can melt capitol ships from long range in two volleys depending on how many ships you got. It's worse with the Vasari because they have 50% phase shield bypass and a level 10 Advent ship dies even though it still has like 40% shields. It's so strong.
A TEC player can early rush with 40-50 Javalis spam inside of 10 minutes and end the game. There's no counter to that, not with the Advent anyway. Advent has the worse economy so no hope of getting 50 missile frigates to compete with a TEC. And to make things worse, the Advent Tempest ships have the worst missile damage of all factions with no Peirce damage. The only way you can counter this is if you get 80 bomber squadrons with maybe 2 Halcyon carriers and a few Aeria Drone Host cruisers and then just continue kiting and staying out of range of the missile frigates out of range while your bombers take care of the targets.
A 2000 full fleet of Halcyon carriers and Titan, it's manageable to handle missile ships. The only other way I think you can counter them is if you can have 20 Rapture BattleCruisers and use Domination to convert the Javalis or Kanraks before the missile spam kills a few of capitol ships. I tried this tactic last night and it worked reasonably well, in seconds I had like 50 Javalis under my control. But there is a problem with that, the ranged missile ships far out-range Domination on my Raptures. So as I go chasing them, I'm taking two or three volleys of missile barrages on my ships before I can reach their position. A smart player that is not an AI player is going to kiting my Raptures and staying out of range of Domination while shooting missiles which would eventually kill all my Raptures so this isn't not really a viable counter for player vs player games.
So Halcyon carriers and Aeria Drones are really the only counter, by spamming 1000 bombers to deal with the missile ships. That's if you're playing against AI though. A smart human player is going to have anti-strikecraft cruisers in their fleet composition. Note, I've only been talking about TEC now. Vasari is much worse with 50% phase shield bypass, and 450 Pierce damage missiles which is brutal. 1000 Pierce damage with the Vulrak Penetrator.
My capitol ships were dying to like 25 Kanraks from long range while I had to contend with the main fleet. Even with 4 Progenitors keeping my fleets shields up, my ships were still dying because of the 50% phase shield bypass. That's with AI fleet. I can only imagine a human player spamming 200 Kanraks. My 2000 fleet strength would be shredded before I even get close.
To sum up, the missile buff seems really strong, especially on the Vasari.
The good stuff:
- Unyielding Will allows weapons to be used while crippled which makes sense
- Unyielding Will to no longer destroy the Titan when invulnerability ends which also makes sense.
- Changing Recall so it can't be exploited for restorative effects. That's a change I agree with. If you want to use it strategically, you'd have to sacrifice salvaging your home planet to make a new home planet which takes time and resources. So if you want your home planet on the front lines to keep using Recall as a restorative effect on your fleet, it costs an arm and a leg but the benefits can be rewarding once done. Bit risky though against a human player because salvaging your home planet means your civilian or military orbit structure no longer counts when you lose the planet dropping your civi or military points.
- And Artifact drops being fixed.
