problems with map designer

I am trying to build a training universe with me having my own 50 planet galaxy and one AI player in each of 2 other 50 planet galaxies.

When I preview, sometimes I get empty universe, sometimes I get one with one galaxy, and sometimes with the correct number.

This happens without changing any of the settings...just repeatedly clicking PREVIEW then QUIT.

Also, no matter what I set the sliders to, I have a super long route from my home planet to the cluster around the star.  

How do I fix?  I don't want any long hops.

sounds like you will need to use the galaxy FORGE (assuming you are rebelling the galaxy forge is inside a GALAXYFORGE folder next to the rebellion exe) but if you are not a rebel ten you will want to download it from the media page (btw the two different locations are because the map file structures changed in a major way and are not directly compatable.
