Everything has someone to complaining about it. There are even detractors to the whole buy the disks and owning them.

Why I dont like steam?

Lets see:

• Third party software that need to be running in the background, increasing game launch time and consuming CPU, RAM and HDD ressources.
  
  
• Third party software of doubtful respect for privacy. That there is worse software on the market does not make it any better.
  
  
• Loss of all rights to the product. The service may CEASE TO EXIST AT ANY TIME. Leaving you with NOTHING.
  
  THE PATCH LIE: If Steam dies tomorow, most modern games no doubt will get a patch that makes them work without steam. However ANY GAME OLDER THAN 1 YEAR THAT WAS NOT A HUGE SUCCESS MAY NOT RECEIVE SUCH A PATCH. Actually the Developlers might be bankrupt in the mean time. The older the game the larger this problem. That leaves you with a a crack, that somebody has to create first. If somebody does bother, of course. Now, in reality there is probably a crack anyway, but is it really good if you just can play your games because of people pirating it???
  
  
• Increased risk of loss. No doubt, sometimes you will loose the CD of a game, too. But then it is one game. However if you loose your steam account, to what reasons ever, all your games are gone. Seing that many people have spent half a fortune on those games.
  
  
• You cannot sell used games.
  
  
• You cannot ask for refunds
  
  
• Steam prices more expensive sometimes
  
  
• Sometimes you are forced to play to crappy localized version of your game, instead of having the good original voice acting.

I will tolerate Steam for fantastic games.

For just very good or good games that force me to use Steam.... expect no money from me.... EVER.

I also reserve the right to insure myself against a Steam service termination - by any means necessary.
