Tweaking artillery cruisers
Hola! I've been looking for a mod that would either severely weaken or remove the artillery cruisers from the game entirely but have come up empty. Is there a mod that does this? Thanks for your time.

What do you mean by artilery cruiser. That is not an officially used name for anything, though I'd guess you're talking about long range frigates or antistructure cruisers?
That said, I doubt there is a mod that specifically does either of those things, you have to make it yourself (though its fairly easy to do).
Antistructure cruisers, there ya go! How would I go about doing that myself?

are the 2 units you want, simply paste them into a text file inside a mod folder...
I guess the best way to "nerf" them is to reduce there range from 12000 to 2000 I am guessing you simply want to stop the AI from killing your starbase?
You can Remove them by taking them out of the list in PlayerPsiLoyalist, PlayerTechRebel, PlayerPsiRebel, PlayerTechLoyalist.

My goal is to force the AI (and myself) to clear a system before sending the artillery to the front line, it's just always been odd to see arti often leading assaults. My ideal would be to lower their hull points by about half, but I'll take what I can get.
So I downloaded the files, made the changes to hull points/shields and renamed the files using the names you listed in the previous post. So all I have to do is place those text files in a mods gameinfo folder?
You do realize the AI won't understand this and will just act the same way it did beforehand, right?
Sounds kind of interesting having artillery cruisers, but it's pointless with long range frigates.
Besides, I argue getting more functionality out of ship. Being anti-structure alone isn't good enough to keep in the long term.
