Space Colonies?

Are there any guides out there to creating new planet types?  Including changing the planet visually as well?  I would like to create a new planet type which actually isan't a planet at all, but a space colony.  An O'Neill Cylinder to be exact.  It would act exactly the same as a planet; is colonizable, has tactical and logistical slots, has nearby resource asteroids, and has it's own grav well.  It would just visually be different.  Is this possible?  Any guides?

Ya its possible.

Need to copy an existing planet entity and rename to suit. Add to the entity manifest. Add to galaxysceneriodef. Increase counts on all.

Need to have a model imported to XSI so it can be exported to a .mesh file

Place the .mesh in the mods mesh folder and open the new planet entity and connect the new mesh.

Pace the textures for the mesh/model in the mods Textures directory.

Get that far and we can work on icons and strings.

yup. remember that you only need a cl and da texture, a day and night. diffuse and spectoral, i believe. put the model on the y-axis the way you want it to spin. note: the entire thing will spin. you cannot change this. in this case the station will stand on its end. you will have to deal with it or make it a asteroid/moon which brings in its own issues.
